The 08 viper is faster PERIOD and im sure the times will go even lower after the real drag racers get ahold of them.

I have no problem accepting them. This thread was about the fact that with 100 more HP, the Viper is barely quicker than the Z06, atleast up to this point after a few tests. Dissapointing if you ask me. But we will see what happens as time goes on. The Z06 has recorded a few low 11 sec passes stock on stock tires (no, not Ranger) @125+ so we will see what the Viper will be able to do soon. The straight line acceleration will be marginal.

I feel like I have lost more IQ points that most in this thread started with. IE "The plastic fastastic fag boys". The C5 Z06 had 405 hp and I managed a 12.2 @117 stock. The new Z06 picked up a hundred hp and averages 120-122. I have been to the track more times than many of you can count. The viper will run 11.20-11.50 in mid to upper 120's mph with a good driver all day. Fuckin do that math.
These Viper/Vette pissing matches are getting a little boring. The C6Z was on top when it came out and now it is time for the Viper to take the crown back. I have no problem saying that the C6Z is the better performer compared to the 03-06 cars, but they have nothing on the 08's.
I wouldn't call the '08 "the king" again...based on this MARGINAL difference this test shows....this just proves that the '08 is essentially now on par with the Z06....which is pretty much what was expected.

I've been told the Viper may legitimately have a factory blower in the next 2 years. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a done deal, but the person that told me this was pretty confident it would happen, and he has some credibility.

I have visited the Vette forums in the past and never saw a Vette bashing from anyone with a Viper on their site. Could it be that the Vette boys are jealous, immature, really want a Viper or what?
Ranger is a farce. His Z06 is not as stock as he claims. In addition to that, the track he ran on has a slight descent and typically produces lower 1/4 mile times. I can't believe that so many people think that one guy is so special that he produces 1/4 mile times that are a 1/2 second quicker than everyone else in the world. He ain't no Don Garlitz; he's a Don Corleone.
I would not be so quick to call Ranger a cheat. I have done a fair bit of drag racing and one thing I learned is that guys seem to treat it as a "who'se dick is bigger" contest. I've seen guys literally lose their temper and flip out when I beat them in a drag race. I won the stock class at Englishtown during the zone rendezous and the guy I beat went nuts, first slamming his brakes on at the end of the track, doing a donut to swing his car into the brakedown lane and going on the grass to get around me, then going 2mph back to the pits to "teach me a lesson". Then he and a few buddies complained to the organizer that I was running a modified car (which I wasnt) and then he told the people there I was running drag radials (I wasnt), had an intake (did not), had internal engine mods (nope) and had some hidden NOS (nope). Because he took it as a shot to his manhood that he lost to me.
So whenever a guy masters the art of drag racing, there is no shortage of lesser men who cannot compare who will say he cheated. Not saying you, but the folks that told you that. Nobody likes to be slower, and some guys just can't say the words "he is BETTER than me", so they make up excuses.
Ranger mastered the tricks that make up a fast run. A shallow stage, powershifting, lowering air pressures, and knowing all the things to do to get the best from the car. If he can run an 11.2 @ 127 that doesn't mean he would beat a car on the street that *averages* 11.5's at 125mph at the track because that car, driven well, would be faster, and when not on a track, many of the tricks we learn do not come into play.
As for his 127 or 129mph time, it was around -4800DA. That means the temp/pressure corrects to 4800 feet *below* sea level. How would a Z06 perform at 4800 above sea level? Same difference, just the opposite direction. What a car does at negative DA's means very little other than the fact that guys like to see the big number at the track.
Drag racing is a sport - just like any sport. It's about taking ONE thing and doing it the best you can. I dont expect a target shooter would necessarily be a good hitman, or a guy who hits loooong at the driving range will challenge Tiger woods, or a guy who can squeeze 129mph out of a car under non-normal conditions proves that anyone else can ever do it.
Ranger is legit, but his times are what they are, just like anyone else's. He doesn't try to pass them off as anything that they aren't.
I am not saying that Ranger is not a good driver. However, it seems unlikely that one guy is THAT much better than everybody else. Lots of people drag race, all over the country, yet none of them gets close to his supposed "bone stock" times.

I have done plenty of racing at MIR. If you walk on the start line, your shoes will stick like it's covered in bubblegum - literally. You can pretty much drop the clutch at 3000rpm quite hard and the car will just HOOK. I've gotten low 1.6 60' times there which is unbelievable for a Viper.
Combine a tanker of VHT on the start line, with 50 degree air, and a -4800DA day, and a guy who can drive and knows the tricks to get the best time, and you have the results he has. When I go to the gym I see tons of guys who are big and built working very hard. But those guys will never be Schwarzenegger - not for lack of trying, they just don't have that little bit extra. But that doesn't mean we can ASSume that Arnold got muscle implants.
As I said, 129mph from Ranger is unreal - but he did it. because it was -4800DA which is the same difference as if you took your car to colorado. He was probably making 50hp+ over stock at -4800DA. Correct the number for STP and I bet it would be more like 125mph.
