ticking?

Maybe I'm being overparanoid, but it almost sounds like the engine makes a little ticking noise, is this normal? rockers? lifters?

Does it sound like its coming from the top of the motor (valvetrain)?

If so, probably injectors, rockers, etc...Not to worry unless its specifically 1 over the others...

It's totally normal. Like someone else said, "it sounds like a sewing machine". Step on the gas and watch how quickly you hear a much sweeter sound!

ok glad to hear its normal. Thats actually what I said "this thing sounds like a sowing machine..."

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. If it changes, or gets louder I'll do something about it (they say they arn't going to cover my warranty as I brought it from the states...BS)

My car is in the shop right now for a ticking noise. I missed a shift was at the top of third and went into second gear on accident. Overevved the engine and bent all the pushrods. Luckily nothing else happened but the next day the car was making a light ticking noise didnt think anything of it. After driving around for awhile all of sudden the car started ticking horibbly had to take it to the shop. I would maybe get it checked out to be safe.

There is ticking, and there is TICKING. I suspect what you had with bent rods would not be described by most of us as a slight ticking noise.

The injectors on the SRT are very noisy.

If it makes you feel better, I thought the same thing when I first got my GTS. Just drive it. Enjoy it. Because you will not have it forever.

Maybe you won't but I am going to be buried in my Viper(s) and if the feds ever try to make me part with my Vipers, they are going to lose a few good men before they break my grip.

Is that what makes the sound, Doc? I heard some folks say the lifters, etc.. I kind of like it now. It's very unique to say the least. I LOVE the popping sound from the exhaust when you let off the gas and of course what it sounds like at WOT....woo hoo!
