911 Turbo is about the best daily driver in existence. Fast, quiet, refined, sexy, and truly capable in all weather if you get snow tires. Not to mention that Porsches actually will last quite a long time.
I've drive the R8 and I think it will beat the Viper hands down off the get go, but I don't think it would hang with the Viper on the E-way...That R8 had the best sounding exhaust on a stock car I've ever heard. I didn't care for the trans though, the paddle shift is a joke and the shift points felt too sluggish.

Shift points felt sluggish????
Poof positive that you are a LIAR, a tool, and a over all dumbass.
Those 0-60 times seem awfully slow for the Viper and the Z06.
Its fairly evident the track surface wasn't super grippy. 0-30 times were real slow and the skidpad numbers were down. Not suprisingly, the AWD 911 Turbo killed because of this reason.

They said the surface wasnt the best...Remember these are the guys that got a b/w GTS to do 11.9 @ 121 back in 97 I believe....They even said in this article that they have gotten faster times with the SRT Coupe in a prior test.....Also in this test they said they had wheelspin in 1-3rd gear....Proof the test surface wasnt the grippiest......Nice to see the Viper still giving upper echelon cars a black eye....That R8 is phenominal however....Its out gunned by 80-110hp, had the slowest acceleration but yet was only a tenth behind the Snake....Incredible handling......Also incredible is the Z06 and Viper killing the Porsche TT by almost 2 seconds....Geez....AWD fanboys will hate this lol...
I think so. I don't know why anyone would buy the V8 R8 when the V10 R8 is just around the corner.
My problem with the R8 is that, for all it's great chassis design and technology, I couldn't roll that thing around town and fear for my life everytime some 'Neck in a SRT8 pulled up next to me. Woefully inadequate motor.
911 turbo is a great car....I think the Tip is just a little faster in 1/4 mile....has good leg room.....ride is also very good for a high end sports car.....all in all a very well built car.
The Z06 is the best track car of that group. The 997tt is the best daily driver of that group. The R8 is the one you might want to pimp in front of Da Club.
I think this group speaks volumes of why the SRT Vipers have taken it on the chin. There's nothing about the car that stands out in any role. For just about any consideration, there's always a better car to choose unless you just have to be Viper Guy.
Smackie, the one exception to that is the SRT vert. Name me another production car that can perform with the Viper and be able to cruise topless in under 30 seconds.
If I was looking for a track car the Z06 would be hard to pass, but I would probably go with a radical.
Doc, the F430 Spyder or 911 Turbo Cab would fill that slot...but for 2-5x the price.
A couple years ago I spent a lot of time in the Radicals. Crazy fun, great value, relatively cheap to race, and even lets me tap into my aero dorkiness. But that's one track car you aren't squeezing the golf clubs into.
The Z06 was the best track car of the PopMech article, but that car feels like an LT1 Camaro compared to the 997 GT3 and GT3 RS's. The GT3 is, by far, the best track/driver. I really regret flipping mine.
Anyways, here's hoping the '08 SRT-C can convince me to not buy another Kraut car.
The SRT10 has beaten the c6Z06 at different tracks in different test quite a few times..It's really a 50/50 toss up between wich is really the best track car..
BUT LOOK AT THE 1/4 MILE ET AND MPH...12.0 AT 121 VRS 12.1 AT 121..AT THE SAME TRACK WITH THE SAME DRIVERS ON THIS DAY THE C6Z06 WAS A TENTH FASTER...
Ive seen enough videos and enough same strip same driver articals to know that the SRT10 can run kneck in kneck with the c6Z06..So many claim that the c6Z06 will pull the SRT10 with ease..But every time they get tested at the same time it's very very close....
Some c6Z06's dyno 440..Some 460..Like wise for the SRT10..
So you get a (2006 3130 pound Z06) with 460 rwhp and race a 2006 460 rwhp SRT10 and the Z06 will trapp 126 next to the SRT10's 122..
But in 2007 they added a few things to the c6Z06 ( sound deadening } and the car now weighs close to 3200 pounds..
you race a 3200 pound 2007 C6Z06 that dynos around 440 ( lower side)rwhp against a 2006 SRT10 that dynos 460 rwhp (higher side) and your gonna get EXACTLY what they got in this review...Two cars that will trap around 122 mph

The Viper put down the best lap times in the test. At this track, with these drivers, the Z06 is not the best track car.
Take 100 of the fastest Viper drivers. Give them the choice of an SRT-C or a new Z06 and tell them to choose the fastest track car because their dog's life depends on it. I don't think you'd see many Coupes on the track fighting for Fido.
It's that simple. There were more than a few anomalies with the PopMech test (the curiously low trap speed for the Z06 and the lap time of the 997tt). But I don't know too many A-list drivers who'd look at that article and switch choices for the Fido Test.
It's one data set in a sea of data that suggests otherwise. If they had run these 4 cars at the track adjacent to the one they used, good night Viper. Take the glorified autocross track and the Audi's laptime for what it is.
