Ive seen enough videos and enough same strip same driver articals to know that the SRT10 can run kneck in kneck with the c6Z06..So many claim that the c6Z06 will pull the SRT10 with ease..But every time they get tested at the same time it's very very close....

Some c6Z06's dyno 440..Some 460..Like wise for the SRT10..

So you get a (2006 3130 pound Z06) with 460 rwhp and race a 2006 460 rwhp SRT10 and the Z06 will trapp 126 next to the SRT10's 122..

But in 2007 they added a few things to the c6Z06 ( sound deadening } and the car now weighs close to 3200 pounds..

you race a 3200 pound 2007 C6Z06 that dynos around 440 ( lower side)rwhp against a 2006 SRT10 that dynos 460 rwhp (higher side) and your gonna get EXACTLY what they got in this review...Two cars that will trap around 122 mph
Most C6 Z06's are trapping around 124-125mph. Most SRT's are around 120-121 (with many of the magazine cars not breaking 120mph). Having spent many a Saturday morning watching SRT's get walked by C6 Z06's, I respectfully submit again, I do not choose the SRT over the Z06 if my dog's life depended on it.

I'm not knocking the SRT's. They are pretty good rigs. Unfortunately, the C6 Z06 edges it out in nearly ever objective category. At the end of the day, if you like one more than the other, enjoy it and take your chances in these "driver's races". Unfortunately for me, just about everyone I hang out with is a really good driver and they can't rely on mistakes from their opponent.

Question, where can you pimp the Z06?

Vipers speed are more traction dependant than just about any other car. Traction control would definately affected the time's as well as slicks.

with three kids the backseat comes in handy. its tight, but works well for any of my 6,4,3 year olds. the p is the first car of mine in 10 or so years that my wife doesnt absolutely hate.
chipped, exhaust, big turbos and the car is a screamer

Its amazing to me even a couple years later people are still arguing which is better on the track the viper or C6 Z. I have seen tons of test where both prevail. Every car has its strong suits. Some favor smaller tracks like the lotus elise, and others bigger tracks like the ford gt. The vette and viper comparo are neck and neck. Period. I know a lot of people feel more comfortable in the vette, that doesnt make it faster. The viper has lots of grip, lets go smoother than the vette. I have flogged many track sessions in both cars and know it is a drivers race. Some may find it easier to drive a vette at its limits but that does not make it a better track car. Good drivers can push any car to its limits. The average Joe may be able to turn a quicker time in the vette with active handling, who cares? As far as acceleration, the viper wins coming out of corners, the vette pulls good in the straight aways. Like I said before, depends more on the track and driver.

I think that was very well said..Every magazine has had them within tenths of a second of each other on the same tracks with the same drivers...the weight/hp of the z06 lets it get a lil faster on the straights..The tires/tourque of the viper let it get a lil faster out of the corners...

As for the 1/4 mile..Ive never seen a review were the C6z06 trapped 127 and the SRT10 trapped 120 at the same strip with the same drivers..

If they could get a 127 at a c6z06 on that particular day then they would get a 123 out of a SRT10...

I really cant stand it when fan boys quote the fastest mag time ever for the c6z06 of 127 and then quote the slowest times for the SRT10 of 118 mph and say "look how much faster the c6z06 is" compare the mags that got 123 from the viper against that 127 trap speed..Then remember that c6z06 gained some weight in 2007 and their not doing better than 126 mph now..

I was just on street fire were they compared a SRT10 Viper against a ford GT at the drag strip in a video..They both didnt do great..low to mid 12's with normal drivers..But the SRT10 trapped 120-123 mph consistently..

The C6z06 is faster in a straight line..But not on a race track

You are right...I meant/should have said the Porsche awd boys.....Got a few friends with them and dont think the Viper has any chance against its superior grip.....

Cajun the article says the surface wasnt the grippiest hence the rwd cars slow acceleration times..Notice the stopping distances too were a little long..These guys can drive....One of the first mags testers to get a Gen II in the 11's.....They also state they have gotten better times out of the SRT coupe before....Nothing you can do about a shitty surface....That being said it tells you alot about the Vipers capabilities to win on such a garbage surface against two awd monsters...

Im no track rat but Im thinking the R8 awd/na setiup helped it immencely as compared to the Porsches awd/tt setup....Havent driven a 997 tt so dont know if it has a little lag etc just thinking out loud.....

Are they selling for MSRP yet? I really know nothing of the Porsche market other than I really, really like the new GT3.

Mine was a Blk/Blk GT3, not a GT3 RS. If you're out and about around any of the Northside SA bars these days, you can occasionally see its new owner dragging home whores with it instead of tracking it.
