Painting them is one way as a few do on here and it looks the best.
I was able to go here www.stickercity.com and pick up a roll of their smoked film and get it to lay perfectly over all of the lenses on the car with a little water/alcohol mix, and a heat gun. Patience is a virtue with this install, and a steady hand.
The painting method is expensive but will give you the best results. Not good if you go to sell the car and someone doesn't like it, and you get rock chips on the highway that looks like ass after a while. Not sure how touch-ups will go.
The smoked vinyl method is cheaper, and if done right looks fine. The best part is you would have to get hit with a rock the size of a walnut in order to damage it, and of course you can peel it right off if you have to sell it, or if a dickhead cop stops you and telly you that you can't have blacked out brake or headlights, which happened to me once when I had my IROC many years ago.
