As I was driving home from the the alignment shop i noticed a tick-tick-tick noise coming from the rear tire. I either thought I had picked up a rock or a screw had found its way into my tire. Upon inspection it was a screw. I know I picked it up at the shop but it is my word against their's and I don't care either way. So my question: do I leave it in or pull it and plug it? The tires are the shitty runcraps if that makes any difference. I want to go ahead and get the PS2's but I still have a little tread remaining so i guess I'll wait.

Your buddy Karl here is going. We can't be no normal family with him living in the garage and comin' in the damn bedroom at 4:00 in the morning, carryin' hammers and shit.
I picked up a screw in my hoosier A6. No way I would use a plug. As mentioned above the patch is doing ok. Don't know how it will do at drag track. One good thing -their is very little spin, if any ,under wot. But I still have some concerns.
One of the many mechanics that work in one of my vast holdings that include top auto industry experts told me that even with a patch, the speed rating of the tire is kaput!
The speed rating is only "kaput" according to the manufactuer...liability reason. Otherwise, a correctly repaired tire, if possible, is just as good as a new one.
Took the tire to a local wheel/tire shop yesterday and they removed an 1.25" machine screw and it penetrated the tire. 20 bucks and 40 minutes later they had it finished. It looks to me that they patched and plugged. He also gave me the normal disclaimer about it not being up to factory speed-rated specs anymore.
I told this to my wife and I said I just don't feel safe anymore knowing it is not up to spec and that it would be a good idea to go ahead and pick up some PS2's. Looks like I will be relieving my old tires of some unwanted rubber.
