Porsche GT v. SRT v. SL 55

I got into a little pissing contest the other day with a Porsche GT and an SL 55. The Porsche sounded like a formula one and when I got on his ass, the damn thing pulled away (I may have not been in the best gear). I actually hit redline in third while he was still pulling. As if that wasn't bad enough, the SL was right on me in my rear view. Anyway, the Porsche exited the freeway shortly after our little interaction and I suspect that he did so in order to keep from being provoked; after he was gone, the SL and I didn't bother any more.

Now, the Porsche GT is a $600K+ car and is also a V-10 with like 600 hp (at least I think that it is), but the Benz?@#$#@! What the HELL!! To add insult to injury, I ran into a guy I know who has one this weekend; he told me that SL 55 is heavier than the SRT but it has more torque. He then began to gloat about how it's a much smaller, more efficient V-8 (albeit supercharged) - I wanted to shove the paper plate of chips and dip he was holding up his fat &^%$#^@$!$! He also said that it redlines around 8500 rpm. Is this true?

If the Benz can beat an SRT (or even my Z06) then I might as well disembowel myself with a rusty screw right now! WHAT'S THIS WORLD COMING TO? What's next - an 800 hp Honda?

Although expensive to mod, the SL's can haul ass if done correctly. Dont even try to mess with a stock SL65.

And you can find a good used 05/06 Viper for 60+ K. Then 20 or so K in mods and you would take both of those cars no problem. Not to sould like a "swinger" here, but if PC did a compete CPE TT kit on your car while keeping the motor mostly stock you could make 700+ RWHP no problem keeping the cast pistons. So yeah stock for stock you might loose, but its nothing a few quality mods can't handle.

The Carrera GT is a $450K car with 605 HP. It is bad ass and a stock Viper will not hang. I got into it with one in FL and was amazed by the sound! Sweetass car, would love to own one, but way out of my price range.

The CGT has a V10 that was originally started as a design for the F1 series before F1 went back to V8's. Its a highreving (for a street car) high HP low torque motor. And it weighs less than the viper. The SL55 Makes instant torque, is an auto that shifts pretty quick too. You should be able to hold of a stock SL55 from a roll but not by much. From a dig, chances are he'll launch better than most 6-sp drivers.............stock SRT is not in the same league as CGT, but is with SL55

The SL55 does not have an 8K redline. It is around 6K. A simple boost kit puts it at around 560HP. A good driver in the SRT could take it, especially on a track since the SL is a pig. I had an 03 SL55 when they first came out, and I currently have an 05. Its a great car, and quick in a straight line.

As Austin said, don't even think about messing with the SL65. Hell, don't mess with some 600's either. Modded 600's run 10's all day long.

The AMGs and SL600 definitely have some balls to them, which is both surprising and sad. At the same time though, I can't help but respect them, I give them a lot of props.

But there's always going to be something faster than your car out there, what matters is that you love your car because it is what works for you.
