I'm thinking of selling my 06 coupe for an 08 so I have been looking at the used market. It seems for the last few months at auction the highest dollar is 65K with under 2k miles.
I bought this car below invoice but still, that's a 15k hit in 9 months, I would hate to be the guy that paid close to msrp. I think there was dealer trunk money which inabled the dealers to sell off there remaining inventory way under invoice. Or is it the 08 with more power.
I could have bought a few new 06 verts out here for $69 at the dealer, but all they had was blue, red, and gray. Didn't care for any of the color choices so I passed them up.
I traded mine in on Friday for a whopping $61K. I got mine for Invoice minus the holdback of $78K. I had my car for 4 months and it had a whopping 1K miles.
Like realestate in many areas, it is a buyers market on GEN IIIs. However, I think it has bottomed out for now as when the '08s come out and people will not be able to get them for less than sticker (for a while at least), the prices of GEN IIIs will rise a bit, especially for ones with desirable mods that have been well cared for.
Sorry Bat, even the VOIs are getting down there. I think one sold on Ebay a while ago for $72k. But the asking prices are all over the place, whether anyone actually gets their asking price is the question. $70k seems to be a pretty common price now.
Well why are the yellow & blacks still stuck in the 76-80k range?
There were only 100 to 200 yellow cars made, they usually hold there value a little more than others.
If I remember correctly, I believe white is the least amount produced.

There not, I can buy an 06 coupe blk/silver stripes with the new wheels for 67k. The car has 1,000 mi on it and this is from a retailer.
It just sucks these great cars have taken such a dive, I know the Z06 boys are having a laugh right now, but they will drop as well as soon as the morons stop paying 5k over msrp.
I'm probably a bad example here since I am fairly new, but when I went Viper shopping a few months back (for brand new cars) the local dealers were having verts, right off the bat, at 69k. Before negotiations.
Coupes were a different story, walk-away for in-stock cars were well north of 80's. A certain dealer had 2 new VOI9s at 92.
Anyway, I had to have a Coupe and I had to have white so my options were limited, 80k was my range.
Meaning that I paid about 11k more that day because I wanted the new white coupe and not the grey vert.
So not sure that one can compare apples to apples here... some people want a Viper, others need to have a certain type or color and that is worth a premium.
Guess the market will be what it will be. But differentiate between just a general "Viper" label.
