Something doesn't sound right.... usually it takes a regional person to flag the car and not just a dealer. Dodge is very good to Viper owners - however - managing to break the tranny, the rack and the diff is a little disconcerting and could certainly be denied under "abuse"
More to it.......
Agreed. These deals generally get looked at first-hand by the Zone service representative. Where's Paul Harvey?
When I drag raced my Viper on nitrous, not on warranty, I broke two transmissions and two rear ends. Each one was a different incident. I wanna know how you broke 3 areas all at once.
1-800-lemonlaw. They helped me with a 2003 VW Jetta GLI because the ignition coils failed six times. I got every penny back on this car after putting over 30k miles on it. They recently got me $3000 for a Subaru WRX CD player that the dealer was unable to keep from skipping after 3 different replacement CD players.

Zipping around a road course and doing it reasonable well isn't "abuse" but speed shifting, throwing sticker tired on the back and and lunching the diff, etc, and the RACK??? what's up with that?

My car is still stock with factory installed runflats I still have the factory fram air filters. I think my rear end locked up which caused my transmission to brake at about 80mph. As for the steering rack I have no idea how it broke it was fine until the dealer told me that the boots were filled with fluid.

Could I use the lemon law even though I am not the first owner of the car.
Today I took my car to a diffrent dodge dealer hopeing they may be able to help considering that the first dealer did not even open up the transmission or rear end to find out what caused my problem in the first place. I don't think they will be able to do anything with the steering rack wnder warranty.

Those rear ends had problems. The extra info is interesting. I can't find a TSB for it, but it is a fairly frequent problem.

Just an update... I'm getting screwed. I took my car to Crain Dodge and they said that DC told them they would not cover the repairs under warranty because Landers Dodge had put a "level 7 restriction" on it (but they seem willing to help). DC said that it was up to the dealership to lift the restriction. Sounds like BS to me. I've spoken with an attorney and have looked into the lemon law, but they would have to fix it at least once to claim a lemon law case. DC is no help. They keep putting it off on Landers Dodge, so I don't know if DC would be more help if Landers lifted the restriction or not. Also there was not a zone rep involved. My attorney is sending a letter to DC and I'm also going to have him call Landers because they keep giving me the run around. As a Viper owner I would never have expected to get such shitty service from the dealership or DC. Any other suggestions?
Someone supposedly told them that someone saw a black viper racing from their porch. By the way, I was in an industrial area with no houses! Even if I was ratted out, how would they have known it was me and what dealership I would go to for repair? They just don't want to fix it under warranty. Should I tell them to put it back together and take it to another Dodge dealership? Is this stuff really "flagged" in their system or are they full of it?
Racing on a track is one thing, but if this occurred on the street, it does not matter what you where doing, they cannot void your warranty.
I would take the car to another dealer and get them to fix it. There is no database for them to flag that the car has no warranty. They are just trying it on. Good luck and let me know how you get on.
My warranty is actually "flagged", Crain Dodge provided me with a vehicle history report and it actually states, "No warranty available". So I can't get my car fixed under warranty at any dealership because Landers said it was "abused" without even doing a thorough inspection. Besides, what constitutes "abuse" to a Viper? Even the Better Business Bureau's (BBB) website doesn't seem to be able to help, but I'm going to call my local BBB and find out for sure. I also got into contact with a service manager at Fletcher Dodge who said he would put in a phone call for me to the Regional Manager. I hope that works. I'm considering cutting out all the BS and going straight to the President/CEO of the Chrysler Group, Thomas LaSorda. Well, I'll actually have my attorney do it, but somethings got to be done. This is wearing me out!
