Anyway to test TPMS sensor?

When the so called "Tire Tech" at my Dodge dealer was dismounting my tire he snapped the strap holding the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor; HRE wheel with factory sensor. The valve stem of the sensor was also bent but the black part was not touched. He said it is still fine but when I shook it I heard rattling - is there anyway to test it so I can verify if it still works?

As a side note, I am amazed at how few shops were willing to tackle the dismounting. Many did have the right equipment and others simply said they did not want to even try in fear of causing damage: 20" HRE with a 345/25-20 tire.
