Viper Alley members your oppinions are needed...

Hey I am fairly new to this site and would like to introduce myself. Anyway I am friends with Stacey Barnett on the board and he suggested I make a post geared toward acquiring some of your own opinions on an issue I have right now.

Currently I have a 1998 Supra 6speed that makes 1135rwhp. At the moment I am looking to sell the Supra and get into a Viper. The major reason is the maitnece and upkeep on the Supra is unreal and I want a car that I can enjoy on the roads more. Now this is where your opinions are needed. I can't make up my mind between a GTS and a srt10. My plans with the car would be to go built motor twin turbo or purchase a properly done built motor twin turbo, supporting mods. So which do you guys like better? Why so? What are some pros and cons for both the GTS and the Srt10? Look forward to hearing some positive responses and thanks in advance!

Choose the body style and color and go from there. Everything else is subjective.

Since you are going with a built motor.......go '01 and up for the ABS. If you are a serious track guy the vert might hold you back.

Get a convertible and if you so desire you can always get a hardtop...you'll have the best of both worlds.

What color are you thinking of? Yellow is flashy and not seen much.

The SRT is the better driver. More comfortable, better handling and much better braking. Better overall build quality as well. As stated before, verts are just awesome for the kind of driving you are looking to do. Nothing sweeter than cruising with the top down on a warm summer night and still having the power to smoke pretty much anything that comes along.

By the way I have a '96 Supra myself; 650 rwhp and runs high 9s. Since I bought my Viper, I almost never driver it anymore. Although it's still much faster then my Viper, it's no where near as fun to drive. I'll probably be selling it soon.

You should PM "Gary J" on this board. He has had both TT GTS(s), and TT SRT's. I am sure he can give you some insight on which one to go with.

There are many that still prefer the look of the GTS. I actually like the look of the SRT better. I guess i just alwasy like the newest model. So like others said, just pick you body style and color, the rest is up to you. I think you would be very happy with the SRT, it is a beast even stock but can be a every day driver. Comfortable, great brakes, all the latest technology/suspension.

If you throw looks aside, then the decision is easy. Go with the SRT, it is the much better car.

However, looks are subjective and while I own a black SRT, I don't think it holds a candle to the GTS in the looks department.
