I have a friend with a Z06. It is orange metallic and an '06. My Viper is not even broken in yet but he has been talking some shit lately so I decided to run him. If I lost, it would not be a big deal for me, since the Viper will ultimately be turboed anyway, giving me the last laugh and soothing my frail ego. First, we took the cars onto the Florida turnpike and the shit kicking began. I cannot say if he is not a good driver or what the case was but he took not 1, not 2 but 3 ass whippings at the hands of my Viper. Is it stock?? Both are completely stock. We only took them to about 100 mph but I was clearly pulling him, although not by that much. Even I have assumed that the Z is a slightly quicker car due to weight and gearing. If so, why did I put 3 ass whippings on this Z?
Needless to say, he was not too happy and as expected, I was the one talking loads of shit afterward. God help the anti Viper world once I get this thing turboed.

If you hit the gas a spilt second before your friend, it would take him a long ways to make it up when the two cars are so close to the same power makers. Or your just a better shifter. That makes a huge differents to. Either way Congrates !!

I am going to rely on Heffner to do the turbo. As you know, he sends the motor out for a complete build up.

um I call bullshit on that. you mean to tell me you are quoted as saying 45-60k for a tt build that "cant cost more than 10k in parts" and that you rather have another car than a tt kit to have to spend that kind of bread. Now you find tunerX quoting 10k less and that swayed your decision?

As far as my turbo interests go, I had a hunch that the prices were inflated, so I did some research. My intentions from the time I purchased the Viper were to turbocharge it. The extreme pricing concerned me but I did not give up on the idea. Fortunately, I found somebody to do it for a more reasonable amount.
Funny how that works..... Z06 loses = it was the driver. Z06 wins = that car is fast as hell....

It is like someone with a C5 Z06 asking why they beat a SRT-10 Viper everytime up to a 100 mph. Wouldn't you chime in and tell them the same (if asked, like this poster did) and that they beat the driver and not the car? I understrand that there is a bigger difference in the performance gap between the C5 Z06 and the SRT-10 than the C6 Z06 and the Viper, but it is still the same concept. A slower car beating a faster car. With equal driver, stock for stock, a Viper will never beat a Z06 becasue the Z06 is the faster car, period. Just like with equal drivers and stock for stock, a C5 Z06 would never beat a Gen III Viper because the Viper is the faster car, period.

Good kill guy. Just to give you some real life experience, not no mag numbers. We had a Viper friend come over with with his 06 Z06 and ran about 0.2 secs faster than he did in his Gen 3. But I gotta tell ya, that it was a different day and different temps (hotter on the Gen 3 run). He said that the Viper was harder to make stick with the run flats and the Z06 was easier to drag race.
But his Z06 or Gen 3 did not go faster than my Gen 2...
