NA Motor build up.. Thoughts

I'm looking at building a NA motor that will have a slightly mild cam profile and still maintain near stock drivability on the road until you put your foot into it. Here are my current thoughts which I wanted to get some feedback on from the community. I am not interested in forced induction as I really love the simplicity and reliability of NA motors.

Intake:
Gasket Match stock intake

Heads:
Stryker street heads

Cam:
Undecided (Possibly Stryker custom grind)

Belanger Headers, Hi-Flo cats, cat-back, exhaust with mid-pipe removal

Rear-End:
Quaiffe with 3.33 gears

Computer:
DC Reflash (planning on having a chat with Dan to get more details here)

You can't go wrong with Stryker heads & their cam.

DC can flash what you need & 3.33 is perfect for NA.

couple quick questions for consideration.

I already have a Corsa cat back system. Is there any reason to get the Belanger cat back?

Is the Corsa louder then the Belangers, assuming they are both installed behind a hi-flo cat?

Is a Hi-Flow cat necessary at all, ive heard mixed replies but assuming the heads were done I would think the Hi-Flos would be justified?

With Hi-Flo cats, is ther really that much heat in the cabin if the full crossover exhaust was kept? I heard most of the heat was from the Cats.

OK, that was more then a couple but hey...

If it's in your budget, re-sleeve your block to 4.125 inch bore. It'll do wonders with the heads you want.

Sounds like a good plan, I would go with a custom cam for the stryker heads for sure. That way you know your getting the extra airflow when and where you need it.

We have done many of these builds I would be happy to help you out with advise or give you a quote to do the work. We do our own head porting but I have no problem using strker heads.

Let me know if i can help.

If your in the orlando area....shoot me a PM. I did my car on a N/A build.

Think about using a solid roller cam. You'll get much more power.

Also talk to Greg Good, he know what he's talking about when it comes to heads and cam.

Something to consider is what is your finnal goal for HP. Mine is 600rwhp, much more than that and it's hell on the road race.

Do you want huge power or do you want realibilty. For my build, I'll give up that extra 50rwhp to have a car I can put 60 to 100kmi on. I plan to put a 100kmi on my viper by the time I hit 35.

Don't forget good tires. No point to have the power if you can't stick it to the ground. Shoot me a PM with your info and we will talk.

Thanks,

Tanked.

Sorry for the hijack, but I had never heard of you guys, and I'm right down the road ... I have an otherwise stock motor with 1.75 T&Ds, hardened pushrods, and a Mopar race exhaust. I'm thinking of getting a 'street job' done on the heads with behive springs and upgraded lifters ... what say you? (I'd be happy with another 25-30 hp, but I won't do headers)

careful on the gasket match - it's port mismatch you are concerned about not gaskets. No point in flaring both ends - it'll hurt power not help. You'll want a pair of expert eyes to look at the intake and head port match before getting a grinder out...

stay with hydraulic roller - sounds like you are not the guy who wants to adjust his rockers routinely - and a solid roller needs that. A solid roller lifter will also not last 100,000 miles and while you get more power you need more spring.

I assume the heads come with roller rockers - no point in killer heads and cam without roller rockers.

have fun

No problem, your welcome to come by the shop and have a look at what we do.
I have a couple of Viper motors being built right now; both of them have our stage II ported heads. You can take a look at the heads and the shop. I can show you some flow numbers. This way you can see the work, I can give you some options and we can go from there.

Just give me a call before you come by so I can make sure and be there, I run errands in the afternoon.

Thanks,
Harold
