Typical HP levels and ET or MPH for supercharges SRT

I just sold my last car and now ready to get a new or newer SRT. I am debating between getting a 06 coupe now and installing a paxton or waiting till late summer, paying a premium, but having the 08 600hp viper. I dont care about having the newest car on the block so I am more interested in performance versus dollars. Also, I love doing a few track events every year. I have seen a lot of good info on here and hope some of you may be able to render your opinions. Thanks in advance.

It really depends on how much power you want out of the car. Some guys are putting down mid 600's to the wheels, while others have 900 to the wheels.

I have always gotten used to however much horspower I have had. That being said I want a car that looks sweet, isnt a dime a dozen, performs above average (high tens-lower 11's) tracks without problems (everycar can have problems, but some have more than others, IE pushed too hard). Mid 600 to the wheels would be a great balance I think, but how reliable would the 06 with a blower be on the track? Would an 08 with headers and cat back perform similarly ( obviously nobody truly knows but am more curious about 1st gen SRTs with blowers being problem free and how well they perform. Thanks

I am waiting for "Rick SRT-10" to respond to this. He has something like 22K miles on his DLM Paxton car. He puts down 900 RWHP with no problems reported. I think the Paxtons are pretty much bullet proof on these cars.

Man, that is crazy talk. Maybe....maybe a tuner Paxton setup including a bottom end and fuel system but not the bolt-on systems.

I can show you two pistons that melted, IE...not bullit proof because of a bad tune. If I were in your shoes, I would wait for the 08 and put the mopar kit (+75 hp) on it from say Woodhouse and then you can beat the crap out of it for and if something goes wrong...it gonna be a cheap fix, LOL. Tow it to your dealer! Just my 2 cents.

get the '08......if rumors of ~540rwhp are true, we will probably see close to 600rwhp with all the bolt-ons and once tuning is availible.

Thanks guys. I have had superchargers on stock LT1's and a LS6 and knew odds where that it was just a fuse and only time would tell how long that fuse would burn. Cast pistons obviously arent the hot FI set up. Guess I will just wait and hopefully pay sticker. Any guess as to how hot the new 08 is gonna be? I remember when the 92 and 96 gts came out they were way over sticker. The 03 was some what but do you think the 08 will be like the z was in 06?

Ask Mike Robbins at Ringgold Dodge, very good prices and seems to always be fair.

The stock Paxton is troublefree system. But when you start going with all the mods then you need a great tuner. Unless you are a very accomplished mechanic I think it is worth the time and effort to let a tuner set you up.

I hate to be the first one to try to mod an 08. He is going to paying extra for everyone elses R & D.
