Dlm Paxton Sc Install

I did a lot of research on the Paxton blower and those who install them and some of you have been very helpful with your suggestions especially Ab(Adam)in Crestwood Ky. Their are some great tuners around but I went with DLM. Doug is a great person and he is certainly a great tuner if not the best. I feel extremely comfortable with Doug doing the install. He kept in touch with me with every step of the way and was and will continue to be there for any questions or concerns. Top notch honesty and integrity. All his systems are built bullet proof and he backs his product, no matter how long you have it.

These are the things that DLM installed

Paxton SC including most of the level 1 system
Split Second Computer System
New Damper
Large DLM Intercooler and Pump
Light weight Fly wheel(spec)
Exhaust changes(DLM exhaust system with HF cat)
Boost Gauge
Raptor Shift light(mounted on pillar)

Thanks to Ab the Viper had the 3.55 gear Mopar Hurst Shifter and club sport motons already installed.

Doug tested my Viper with all the installs mentioned above. He likes the 3.55 gear and the fly wheel with my set up ,especially with the new Hoosier A6 tires on the rear(345/30/19). I changed to these rear tires because I don't drive in the rain , put low miles on the Viper and needed a tire that would stick. Doug is impressed with the tires. He has spent a lot of time personally with my Viper and took it to a tuner day at a track to test and tweak. He said their was no fish tailing with the Hoosiers. They warm up real quick and stick great and mentioned that he is very pleased with the way the Viper performed.

When Doug Levin says he is pleased with the way the Viper performed I knew I would also be pleased .

Since I have ,with other cars, used slicks at the track and on the street I know what to expect. Tire mileage will not be good but this is the price I will have to pay to gain a very sticky tire. With my set up and what I want to do with the Viper the tires are a good choice but I would not recommend the tires for a Viper that will be driven in all kinds of weather conditions. Also I will have the clear 3M installed in different places to help keep rock chips at a minimum.

I got my Viper back and for the past few days I have been doing some testing. Wow-what a neat install. Ive had high HP cars before but not like this one. The Viper performs great with the DLM SC install and tune, like a sling shot, and below 3200 rpm the Viper is much quicker. The 3.55 gear and light weight fly wheel and tires complements the SC and really helped my Viper to perform, I think, even better. I had some questions about the 3.55 gear and fly wheel but Doug told me to just wait and that I would love it. He was right.

The Viper sounds great at idle and very little lurching at the low speeds with the fly wheel. The DLM exhaust has that good low pitch rumble at idle and when you go WOT hang on and the exhaust sounds mean and no drone.

I cant say enough good things about the DLM SC install and the Hoosier A6 tires on the rear. A great performing sticky tire. I even tried the Viper out in the rain and as long as I was careful everything was ok.

Here are some pics of the Viper with the SC-tires-boost gauge and raptor shift light.

A6 or R6? I only ask because the A6 is the autocross compound and the R6 is the roadrace compound. I have heard that the R6s are more suited for the street because the A6s are an even softer compund that will come up to temp very quickly but will blister under street use. Several people are using R6s on the street, but you are the first I have heard of with the A6s so please report your results. Looks like a fun combo---enjoy!

Doug was going to dyno it but Exotic transport in Florida called and siad they had to go to Cleveland and could pick the Viper up that day and deliver it to my location in Kentucky the next day. Really wanting to have the Viper I did this and it was delivered the next evening. Very good transport co. I will be taking it soon for a alignment in Louisville and they will put it on dyno.

Ive only had the Viper back a few days but I am very impressed with the tires. Man do they stick -very little warm up needed probably none in hot weather. No fish tailing at all. The Viper hooks up and goes straight as a arrow, and seems to have good lateral road holding performance. If they hold up it will be the tire for me.

I called Hoosier and they indicated that their is not a lot of difference just as you say a little softer compound. But for drag probably be the best tire. If I have trouble this summer Ill go with the R6. I am expecting around 4000 miles out of the tire. That is about my yearly average.

Another Viper driver I know got the A6 back in the fall and seems to have some what the same driving habits as myself. He said he will get about 4000 miles out of the tire and really loves them. He told me it will be worth the change out every 4000 to get the performance.

Ill see-but so far I can say it is a great tire. Again-wow how it sticks. As mentioned above Doug really liked the tire.

BTW-I have the 18" Pirelli tires on the front. The Viper does a lot better in the rain than I thought it would.

If I have the blistering problem I will let you know.

Doug made one change-Got my motons installed a few months before the SC install. I asked for the Viper to be slammed. Did not have the wheel rubbing problem but , with the shorter Pirelli tires, had scraping especially on the rear diffusers.

Doug raised the front and rear near 3/4". I liked it slammed but it was just not practical. Now I can go where I want to and not worry about scraping or rubbing.

Here is a pic with it slammed and the second pic showing as it is now. Front, I think, was a little too low in first pic. In the first pic ,with Pirelli tires on front & rear, the front jack points were 2 1/4" from ground and rear 2 3/4". Now the jack points are 3" and 3/ 1/2 " with the rear A6's.

The R6 may be better for you. I am going to really monitor the A6. If I have problems I will go with the R6. It would be tempting for me when these ware out to give the R6 a try.

Ill post now and then and give a report on how the tires are doing.

They do make the A6 in the 18"-about 8 different sizes

Rick that is some rwhp. I cant imagine adding near 200 more hp to my Viper. Wow 6 pulls and still 900.

That was a hot day at Macedos shop. Larry was gracious enough to let us retune my car using his dyno on a Saturday.

Blue I said that also and 4 months later was back at Dougs asking him to wave his magic wand more booooost please

Rick-what gas were you using any race fuel mixing.

How much boost are you making and how much boost were you making with the level 1 set up. Did you have the boost gauge installed?

For the drag ,with Dougs help ,I may adavnce the timing a couple degree and use some race gas.

We have a great 1/4 mile track at Beach Bend race way in Bowlingreen Ky.

I use 93 octane since my car was built for the street. I am running 15 lbs of boost and a conservative tune. I love the boost gauge and it has a blue background. Mine is different then yours. I will post up a pic for you later.

Nice. Man that is good boost-I am at 6-8 lbs.

Dog gone it -I am already getting the hots for a system like yours.

Rick-I dont see how the Viper hooks up with that much HP and the tires you have. With my Perilli tires I had the spin and fish tailing. But I have to say the tires did better in warmer weather.
