Germany has an interesting system for punishing speeders. The cost of the ticket is contingent on your annual income. I am not sure of the actual break down but say you make 20K per year and you are caught going 20k?ph over the limit, the fine would be..say..$100. If you made 500K per year and got tagged for the same 20k/ph...the ticket would be say $2000. I saw a show where a guy reportedly got a 25K dollar fine (ouch). My ass would consider slowing down if we had that system here.
PS, I know they use D/M and not dollars.

I saw another article about one of the high mucky-mucks of Nokia getting a ticket for 45 in a 25 zone on his motorcycle. Same concept as Germany, but much steeper escalation. His fine was in the vicinity of $65,000.
At that point one would be tempted to make a run for it, what the hell, how much worse could it get? You might get away, and if you didn't, at least it would be more fun.
