You should be fine to put skinnies up front without any problems. You might want to put wheel spacers in though. 5/8 should work alright. For the rear, it depends on the size of the rear rim. Are you going with a 15" slick with weld wheels....? You have built your rear end also haven't you?
Ok, so I've decided to forget about the fronts. So to get a 16 wheel/slick in rear. What brake modifications (Wilwood?) do I need and where's the best place to purchase?

make sure your life insurance is paid up if you are gonna run a radial up front and a bias ply in the rear. you will be in for a ride on the big end of the track.

That's what I've been told. I'd even be happy running a 17" Hoosier cheater slick. My friend 03 Cobra is pulling consistant 1.4x 60's with his TT 6 speed. From the same guys four-eye...yeah, I'm not sure about the tires sticking out, but at least it's "period correct".

I think you should look into the mickey thompson et drags. I believe that Sal ran those in bradenton 7.99 @177mph or something like that. Anyway, those are radials and you should be able to run your stock tires with those. THe et drags are just about as good as the et streets. I am pretty sure they are 17", so you will need some rims and at least a emergency brake relocation. Talk to purner about rims that will work with the least amount of mods to your car.
