Borla Exhaust

I've been interested in buying the borla mufflers/exhaust for the SRT, but i've read a few things about losing HP etc.
My question is, how is it that the borla will lose hp numbers, and the corsa won't, aren't their designs similar, besides two mufflers (corsa) and one long muffler (borla)? Is it back pressure? What makes the borla exhaust so different than the Corsa? Besides sound. Don't they both eliminate the cross over? I have borla on my hummer, and I love the sound. I'm interested in getting the borla, as i'm pretty happy with their products so far, But I dont want to lose HP.

Thanks in advance

Corsa uses better resonators and better quailty bends in the pipes.

Deam, you have a PM

Bends??? The exhaust is straight until the turn outs....hardly any bends to speak of. Also the Corsa Track does not use resonators.

Just fyi, you can compare the sound of a Borla to a Corsa exhaust on a Viper SRT-10 here...

Video - Corsa Track Exhaust (Cat-back / 2004 Viper) vs. Borla Race Exhaust (Full-Race / No emmissions / 2006 Viper Coupe)...

Thats not a fair comparison. From what I read, the Corsa car in that vid had cats, the Borla car didnt. There is a big difference in sound without cats. That vid doesnt do the Corsa justice. I like the Corsa better. But thats just my opinion.

I've always thought corsa sounded weak at slow speeds and in idle. Doesn't borla supposedly make some of the mopar exhausts..?

If you do Corsa, go catless, more power and torque, plus it sounds pissed off.
I did a before and after dyno, so I got to see and feel a difference.

How much power difference was there without the cats and is there a difference with just the corsa alone?

I cant believe cats make that big of a difference in power! How "smogy" does it get around the car catless? I drive the car everyday, would it be extremely noticable?? I went catless on my rx8, and wow did it smell. Luckly i didnt get pulled over.

What numbers does the srt10 make stock??

Typically srt's dyno about 420-440 stock. Ive seen people post so many different #'s. And as far as catless, I did smell it a little more at first, it was weird though cause I either got used to it or it went awya. But I dont notice it at all now. But Ill have friends say they can smell it.

And as far as dyno #'s, its not even really the peak #, its the fat part of the curve that really jumps up when you go catless. People argue if there is a power difference or not, I feel there is. ILLSMOQ and I were both at the same dyno 3-4 times in a 2 week period after doing different changes.

Wow 97GTSBLUE talk about bring up an old thread LOL, its ok I did it a few times too, its a noob thing.

Hey ledfoot, thanks for the offer, I was strongly considering corsa, but I needed to go catless. So I did for the past 6+ months or so with the mopar race exhaust. Love the obnoxious sound, and so far No Problems here in fremont with the PO-po. Are you in the niles area?
