2008 availability?

I'm about to put down my $5000 deposit for a 2008 viper. My dealer says it will be delivered in april, but I heard in all of the magazines that the first 2008 models wont be available until summer, if that. Can anyone shine some light as to when I'll actually receive my car?

PS: This will be my first viper. I can't wait to become an active member of the community!

Why would you put that much down? The dealer should hold your place in line for a couple hundred.

I was told by Chrysler, we could put orders in in May and that the first cars would not be out until late August or early September, but keep in mind, that is from Chrysler and that is ALWAYS subject to change...

Sounds to me like the dealer is just trying to float your cash. Once they get it, they'll just blame dodge 100x over for delaying it, claiming it's not their fault. I'd tell them 500 bucks down is more than enough. That is what I put down for an SRT challenger.

God, negative people like you are the reason why positive people are so successful. If you must know, I'm not in town right now (I barely even live at home), and I'm not sure I trust my local dealer. I thought it would be best to ask the guys that know. That would be you.

I get my Dealers first 08 with no deposit, But he's a good friend of mine. My understanding is August/September for first deliveries, but its all speculation for now.

I am getting the first 2008 in the UK in May so you guys should be able to get one in April without too much trouble. I put down £1000 deposit to secure the car. Hope this helps.

The plant won"t even be starting up until May the last I heard. Last I heard the engine had not passed certification. If anyone knows better please reply.

As I have said before, my customers know the history of every car I sell, so there are no unsuspecting victims. Engine passed certification six weeks ago and the first cars will be ready in April.
