Michelins or Kumhos

I'm looking to upgrade my OEM runflats to a better tire, just don't know which way to go. I am looking at the PS2's and the Kumhos. What are you guys running and is there much of a difference between the two? When I ordered my Pilots for my former GTS a few years ago, I got them from Jon at Partsrack. At that point in time, Kumhos were making there way on the Viper scene, and Jon didn't recommend them due to their softer compound. He bascially told me that a lot of the Viper guys were running them on the track (autocross) and they really weren't meant for everyday driving. Are they still softer or have they changed? All I know is that the factory tires are shit, and the wheel hop is a bunch of bullshit.

Dont think they make Kumhos in the 345/30/19 for the rear. You can get the Michelin PS. Talked to Luke at tire Rack the other day and he said the PS2 will be out very soon in the size mentioned above. Not taking orders yet but soon.

I am running the Pirelli's in 18 & 19". They stick a lot better than run flats.

I believe I would wait for the PS2

Thanks, Blue. I've got plenty of rubber left so that will buy me time. Why in the world would Dodge release such a crappy tire in the first place? Isn't Dodge going back to the regular tire on the '08 model? That tells me that they even know how shitty these tires are (cold-natured, not enough grip and heavier).

I think they are legally forced to use runflats if they don't supply a spare.

The way I get it the PS2's will be on the 2008.

Glover-The tire situation on my 2006 coupe made it very difficult. Really the only tire in oem size was the PS non run flats.

The rear on my Pirelli's are 355/25/19. About or over 1/2" lower tire than oem.

I have been thinking of switching to 18" wheels but haven't pulled the trigger as I don't know if I want to keep some of that 19" look.

If there were some more options for the stock size I would probably stay and just go for a lightweight wheel with a decent lip.

I had a 03' Z06, it did not have runflats, but it did have a Tire Inflator Kit.

I want to keep the 18" and 19" combination, as it gives the car a better stance. Blue, how do your Pirelli's perform?

Glover--the Pirelli's perform well. Stick a lot better than run flats. The rears being 355/25/19 are about 1/2" shorter tire. This makes the gap between tire and fender well a little larger, but I was able to take care of this with the motons. The tires eliminated most all the wheel hop but they do spin some.

I know this is probably just in my mind but the Viper seems quicker with the tires and this is because shorter tires lower your effective gear ratio. So you are putting more torque to the tire and in doing so car may seem to be quicker but the tires spin easier.

As mentioned-Luke said the PS2 should be ready for order any day. Ive been checking the tire forum for the announcment. Probably be a big rush so it may take awhile to get them???

The Pirelli's will be more expensive.
