can you hear NOS

I had some kind of ricer pull next to me tonight. I thought what is this guy doing screwing with me. He hit it first and it hauled ass - I had to hit it hard and pulled past him in 2nd (SLOWLY) but with my windows down and with stock pipes I heard like a blast of vapor sound like if you opened a NOS bottle in free air. It did not sound like a SC or turbo. Can you hear that shit when you shoot it?

Wastegate dump maybe? What kind of car?

Are you sure it wasn't a blow off valve? Tial makes a 50MM BOV that sounds like that. I had one on my Procharged Z06, and it sounded mean as hell. It sounds like a soda bottle opening, but really loud. Under high rpms, it had a rattle snake studder to it.

You wouldn't hear nitrous flowing unless the hose was loose and it was whipping around under the hood. When nitrous hits, you hear the engine rpms climb faster and maybe the engine will sound a little more strained.

An open waste gate dump on a turbo'd 4 or 6 cylinder might sound odd/loud to you if you've never heard one.

but you can smell it if you're behind a guy spraying. it has a sweet smell. hard to describe.

Agreed. What you were hearing was almost certainly the waste gate dumping access boost.

"Ricers" can be shockingly fast on turbo alone. Although I love my Viper, in a straight line race my Supra makes it look silly.

I think it was a Supra, and after I shut down he wen by and I did small NOS, so it probably was the dump gate.

And Supra's are known for BIG turbos and loud blow off's. But he may have had NOS too. Though that would be one quick Supra.

I would have like to play longer, but we were in an area we should not have been playing at anyway. I had to go one way and he the other or we could have criuised to a safer location. I would like to have talked to him - cause it was fast - I just did noit get a real chance to see how fast.

Turbo and nos - that would be bad ass.
