I drove a 3.55 once and didn't like it. I think it is way to much gear. Don't recall the RPM but it just didn't feel right to me. I had a 3.33 and it is perfect in the street.

The 3.33 or 3.55 gears would be great. I have a 2006 coupe with 3.55 gears and I love the gear. For me gears 2-6 comes alive especially 2-5. Now you will have to shift out of low at a little lower speed. But it sure has turned my Viper on. On the roll it has made a big difference. Other car owners that I have done some running with said it really has made a difference. Man you WOT on the roll in 2nd and 3rd-hold on.

I had the same problem with wheel hop and reduced that a great deal or almost none with non run flats and motons. The non run flats on my viper are so much better.

If you go to non run flats I uderstand that Michelin will have the 19" PS 2 for the rear very soon. Still will take a little time to get them because of the demand. But may be worth the wait. I have the Pirelli non run flat.

To figure out the RPM, use this formula:

Current RPM @ 80 MPH * New Gear Ratio / Old Gear Ratio.

As long as you aren't going to a differently sized tire, this formula will always work.

I will go with Ps 2 when I need to change Pirelli's. The Pirelli's are 355/25/19 for the rear ,and if you lower very much it makes Viper very close to ground. The tires are over 1/2" shorter than stock.

You wont be sorry with the 3.55- call Jon at parts rack. Now it does take a lot of labor, if done properly, to install the 3.55. Got mine done at a dealer for 878.00. Normally a dealer gives warranty for 1 year. So be ready for complete gear kit with oil and labor for around 1400.00. You could really save if you can do the installation.

I called (DTS) Drive Train specialist Here in Mi and they said around 600 set up. Plus lube . If I take them the center section.

don't know if I will lower it . Most of our roads suck big time.

There was a well known shop I used 10yrs ago down by Metro Airport. For the life of me I can't recall their name. I think there's a link to them on the Morgue when it's back online.

I do remember they were cheaper than DTS, and had done a lot of rear end work for big names etc.

I never had any trouble with the 3.73 they set up for me in the G1.

I've changed to the 3.55 gears, non-run flats and the Mopar SRT rims and I pulled away from my buddies mamba like he was driving a C5 vette.
