Has there been any confirmation of this yet? I know some were speaking of this around the same time the runoffs were happening. I also heard that the old T1 will still include the Viper and C5 Z06. A friend of mine considered a Viper and he told us that with his investment in the C5 Z06 and current rules it would be a lateral move but he would just have to spend an additional 150k to do it. Maybe the old T1 has the old Viper and ST will have the new one.
Yes, this is confirmed.
I raced a 2004 SRT10 in T1 last year and maybe this year as well. But my car is eligible for both Super Touring (ST) and Touring 1 (T1) depending on restrictor and car weight.
I think the T1 Viper is DOA with the 3700 lbs minimum weight and 45mm restrictor and really don't know about ST as of yet.

That would make sense. When Lance told us he was staying with the C5Z I thought something would have changed on the viper. I was almost sure he was going to run a Viper this year.
Ya never know what that boy may do...I think if the class was Run Offs eligible he'd do something in it. I think I would to, but right now the Run Offs is what makes SCCA National racing "different" than other venues. So without going to the championships at the end of the year there is not much more.

How do you know LVK?
I am in a couple of clubs around here and he only lives about 35 minutes away. I think we started talking to him when we bid on something he was selling on ebay. That was a little over a year ago. He's a hell of a driver and has some good equipment under him. I started using the Hawk DTC-70 brakes and holy shit do those things stop! I know he has the mack daddy Moton set up too. He seems like a good enough guy and a hard worker. The runoffs is definately what makes SCCA what it is. I was shocked to see Heinrocket finish the way he did. I did meet him years back and he was so dominant in T1 going to Heartland park just kind of stole his thunder out from under him in the Vette. I am sure this year will prove to be another awesome year for Touring racing in SCCA although SBW was on the vette forum claiming tha NAYKID is being sold and there will be no further dodge support to them. We'll see how it goes. He kinda strikes me as a bit of an ass anyway.
Lance got into SCCA a year before I did; he and I became friends real fast. He's just a good guy, plus his girlfriend is an absolute beauty and overall great girl.
JH: I met him before I went racing. Corvette folk-hero. Helpful and quite unassuming. Nice guy. He has been over my house (I bribe him with Handle's ice cream!).
SBW: he's not what he appears to be "on-line." He's like a big cuddly grizzly bear; he is actually rather helpful. It's just tough being on the wrong coast all the time. I will say I think his crew chief, Fred Lux, is one of the best in the business.
It's kind of funny how there is a big racing family outside all of the BS. Lance has done very well and we wish him and the guys nothing but the best for these upcoming years. We were trying to get Lance out to a couple of our NCCC events last year but the schedule just didn't work. One of JH's friends Danny Kellermeyer who crew chiefed in the Corvette Challenge is a good friend great driver and alot of help when it comes to these cars. He runs in the TCC series. Some of these guys just have some amazing stuff. I race on a much smaller level but we all enjoy it none the less. Do you ever make it out to Michigan? I am sure you would be welcome at our events if wish to attend.

Al, I live in Youngstown, Ohio; so yes, I get to Michigan.
I ran the April National at Gingerman (finished 2nd behind Lance) in the wet. Then Lance and I tested there at the end of August in preperation for the Run Offs. I also have some business interests up there so I drive to Lansing, Flint, etc about 3-4 times a year.

Well looks like were going to have to get you and Lance together at some of our events up here. Gingerman is a great place to test and dial a car in. I love Grattan and Waterford too. We race at all three tracks and we would be happy to have you up here. I work at a dealer right on US 23. Give me a shout next time you come up this way.
[QUOTE SRT DIDNT BUILD THIS NEW VIPER TO RUN EVEN WITH THE C6Z06....IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS FROM THE SPECS ALONE THEY BUILT IT AIMED AT THE FORD GT...
BTW FADI...a FordGT is faster than a C6Z06 buy a considerable margin in the 1/4 mile.....And it's not even a race after 140.

Hmmm, a bold statement in bold. Check out the attachment.
The new 08 will surely close the gap. As far as will it beat the Z06, well I would assume Dodge would make sure its faster than the Z as it makes no sense to release something that isn't faster than the current generation Z, but who knows, we'll find out soon enough. FYI its not just about weight and HP. You also have to consider torque, torque band, gearing, drag etc.
With that being said, both the Z06 and the SRT10 (current and 08) are great cars with their own pros and cons. I could care less which is faster, both look nice and both are very fast. Can't go wrong with either one.
2010 Vette will be 700hp n/a. They've got the power figured out, just working on getting to the ground adequately...
2008 Viper's reign might be shortlived.
The new Blue Devil Corvette is 650 HP but not 700. And thats a higher dollar specialty vehicle that will be produced in much smaller numbers than the rest of Z06s and C6s. Plus the Blue Devil is supercharged. If DC used a Supercharger on the Viper, 700-800hp has been realizes by enthusiast installs on 2006s. All it takes is a Roe or a Paxton.

Yeah, same with a vette or a mustang. Shit, you can give a subaru 800 hp in the aftermarket.
Ahhhh fuck it....this thread is old as shit but....
stopped reading on page 11....but here goes....
You Vette guys make me laugh....you argue that you can't compare a future model of the Viper to the "old" C6Z when that is EXACTLY what you are doing when you compare the C6Z to an SRT....you are basically comparing a "new" Vette to an "old" (03) Viper....
auto x loser....you say the Viper is not a race proven platform?...ask the factory Corvette team how many Le Mans, ALMS, etc races they won BEFORE DC pulled the plug on OREACA's factory support?....i think its somewhere in the neighborhood of ONE!....
Oh and I can't stand this non sesne about how an 8+L V10 motor SHOULD make more power than a 7L V8....ugh...you obviously understand little about how motors work.....just remember that the Viper's 8.4L V10 is under much less stress than a smaller motor making the same power, among other things....its not that Dodge can get "only" so much power out of it....its more like thats how much they choose to get out of it due to whatever reasons (price, streetability etc..).

You forgot to mention one other item, that is if the GM bean counters approve the adventure. first the blue devil was 08, then 09, and now a new rumor for 2010... sounds like the some funding issues...

That's kind of ricer mentality like saying... "Your Viper might have 510hp, but if did XXX, XXX, and XXXX, to my Honda I'd beat you...."
Point is you're having to add a blower to just beat a stock car.
God I hate all you douchbags that contimnue to argue over which car is faster. Buy what you like...fuckheads...and stop giving a fuck what the other guy has. Jesus freaken Christ!
