You appear to be very knowledgeable on the sport, and have a good appreciation of cars. A fellow Vette owner, I admire the Viper's performance, and will be purchasing an '08 (keeping it NA). As a factory turn key car and a weekend track warrior, the Viper is a worthy competitor that has my respect. While I'm keeping my C5 Vette (Stroked C5R 427 F1R, 900+ hp) and my stripped track-only '91 Mustang, I also can't wait to own my first Dodge.

And everyone thinks their baby is the cutest. My C5 coupe is lowered, 6-pot Alcons look through polished forged HRE's, w. 295mm front & 345mm rear rubber. I see a rounded lowered nose that looks similar to an old Superbird's, and a nice big butt (I like my women w. a little meat on their thighs/butt) - a package that delivers a highly functional CD of .28. With a typical CD of .35 for most cars, I see beauty in the C5's engineering/design.
Caseyse, I appreciate your remarks. You have alot of information and seem to have your head on straight, most of us are glad that you are here. As for your comments, I believe the same way. I happen to love the way that the Vette looks, especially the C6 design. Alot of the members here actually own them. One in particular took his to Lingenfelter and getting alittle 403 stroker, Magnacharger, mini-tubs..... also owns a 04 SRT. Ask which one is his favorite, he can't tell you because he likes them both.

To sum it up, I think that BOTH cars are great. Both have alot of potential in them and both perform great at the track and on the street. Don't bash someone because they like a car that you don't care for, it's not a good move.

Probably so, because the Viper has a lot more character, beauty and quality. Caseye's statement that I have not contributed anything is pure nonsense. What about when I won the bid on a VOI9 Viper for a member here at an extremely low price? I think I represent a lot of Viper owners here who don't take kindly to some nerds roaming over here, bashing Vipers. Agreed. The Viper is a fast car. Never denied that. I just wish we had more of them on that tracks out here. It may beat the C6 Z06. I will say that. After that all bets are off and I will leave it there. I am sure that sadistic could be better served on some Alternative Lifestyle forum. It is nice to see some objective owners vette or viper.

I hate it whenever people bash ANY car not just the Vette or Viper and so on. Whenever people come on here to bash the Viper, they are mistaken. I guess they don't like the fact of having a 8.3l V10. Guess they don't like the fact that it has one of the best braking systems available on the market today. Or even the fact of the 13inch tires in the rear being stock, when others have to spend money to do a mini-tub kit just to fit that size of tire. I don't think that they were saying that the Viper sucks, just that it is not the dominant car. The Vette was design to be a all out "Street Race Car", raw power and raw performance. Yet the Viper was created to appeal more towards higher class people who wanted a sleek exotic look and design, with the same power and performance. They are in 2 different classes if what I feel and can't compare them.
There was a thread in the garage forum, talking about a F430 vs. Z06. How many members that posted said they would take the Z over the Ferrari? Not many even though the Z outperforms the 430. That just comes to show me that there is a car out there for everyone. There is a car for everyone's style and needs. For us, we love the jaw dropping appeal that the Viper gets. The performance is right up there with the Vette, but that's not Dodge's goal. If it was there goal, GM would out do us every single year by creating the "Blue Devil" with 650hp, what would come next?? A 700hp "Blue Ray"? Just appreciate what the Vette was created for, and most of all appreciate what the Viper is and was created for. Thousands of hours were put into the design of these cars so think about that next time. Who cares about who's car is better or faster, but which one do you feel better in? My vote is the Viper. Others might be a 350z, little honda Accord or even a Acura RSX is their dream car. Let them have it and just appreciate what cars are and what they were made for. Thanks!
At this point it looks like 430-450 and 550 respectively.
This what people should be considering, whether the '08 Viper will outperform the '08 Z06. The magazines are not going to compare the 500 hp version Z06 to the new Viper if the '08 Z06 gets a horse power increase. Wondering if the new Viper will beat the current Z06 is a no brainier simply because Dodge could constantly measure their gains against the actual car. Contrarily, this strategy was most likely used by GM in assuring their Z06 would in fact beat the current Viper.
If we consider these variables then guessing who will win in '08 may not be that easy to call. We should keep in mind that we are comparing two different motors. When Viper owners arrogantly say "look out Z owners, our newly designed 8.4 liter V-10 is going to beat you" it looks pathetic. It's like a Corvette owner telling a naturally aspirated V-6 competitor that our newly revised larger V-8 is going to beat you! That isn't something to brag about.
It should be embarrassing to Dodge that this debate is even happening...hoping that a large V-10 will stay ahead of a smaller V-8 is shameful. I can't believe this is an issue because it shouldn't be. Dodge should do what is has to do to lead by a considerable margin. If this means Dodge must supercharge their engines to maintain a large gap then they should do so. Lets not forget that the naturally aspirated 488 cubic inch V-10 Viper made less horsepower than a naturally aspirated 350 cubic inch V-8 Corvette ZR-1 for three years (93-95) in a row.
