The funny thing is..I actually think the new hood gave the car a more aggressive look, which is one of the things missing from the current gen3s. I actually really like DCs attempt to slowly change the car. I give it a B+. Now, what would look really awesome if the came out with a new front to match the aggressive look of the hood, then maybe I will buy one.
I'll bet Autoform and all the otheres are racing to get their hands on one of those hoods. I'm betting they'll sell the crap out of them to the 03-06 guys.
Beefed up tranny, rear end, double disc clutch, 600 hp, etc. Sounds pretty good to me for a fill in until the the next generation. Anyone else catch that it's set up for an external oil cooler?

i agree, the front end is too conservative looking for an otherwise aggressively shaped car. the front bumper needs to change.
otherwise, this looks like one hell of a refinement. the VVT is exciting, and makes awesome power with boost. overall, the power & drivetrain seem to be a hell of a lot more suited for a 90k car then it has ever been.
Here is DC's press release. I don't mean to interrupt the love fest, but I'm not real impressed. The drivetrain improvements are a good step. But the motor isn't real special to me.
Those valve covers look like shit, and why the hell can't Dodge polish the damn intake. I don't like the hood at all either.
As most know, I love the coupe...and these changes don't do much for it at all. Redesign the front bumper a little, lose some weight, and give us 650, and everyone would love the car.
This seems like an extremely cheap R&D bandaid for the absolute ass kicking the Gen 3 has received from the public.

the valvecovers you see are actually covering the coil packs mounted to the real valve cover. it could be worse - check out any LSx engine. Personally I prefer the tech look of the coils, but if you have to cover them up with something, its typically going to look cheesy. im not a fan of engine covers.
i kinda agree on the hood, it looks a little sculpted for the rest of the lines on the car, but I think a more aggressive front end would allow it to settle in better.
But the car also lost over 200 pounds...This will be announced at the Detroit show...
Big fucking deal. They got rid of the runflats and went to non-runflat rims. That's nearly 100 lbs. there. They also ditched the piece of shit crossover on the exhaust---probably another 40 lbs. Where they got the extra weight loss I don't know, but it's not a problem to knock a couple hundred pounds off an 03-06 SRT-10.
I think the engine looks mean and pretty good. The rest of the car needs to go back to the drawing board.
I sure hope they don't expect to sell 3000+ cars per year, because it just won't happen.
You could get the same performance figures (probably much more) on your 03-06 with head/cam/headers/exhaust/flywheel and a wheel and tire package. Throw in a motons, a quaife and a big brake kit and you have well surpassed what dodge is offering.

Anybody notice that in some of the file photos, the car has no fog lights, but on the cars tested, there are fog lights? I wonder what the actual car is going to have.
The variable valve timing has my interests peaked. 3400lbs is still too heavy.
I am curious about the new heads specs. I would like to see the flow numbers on them after Greg Good got a hold of them. I wonder how they stack up to the JM stryker heads flow wise/cost wise.
