Still got some testing going on, but made a pass tonight in my SRT10 truck. It's a quad cab, weighed almost 5900lbs tonight. We're still working out the bugs. I'll make a 1/4 mile pass on either monday/wednesday. I should be in the 10's by then. If I can fix this tranny issue, I figure I can pick up about .4 in the 1/4. I only launched at 1500, shook the shit out of the tires. They didn't spin, but I had some nasty tire shake until it shifted into 2nd. Then it got on top of the tires and started running.
Hopefully I'll see some 10.90's this coming week. If I had a 6 speed in this thing I could be running 10.50's no doubt.

Unless your trans/converter choice is screwed up how do you figure the six speed will be a lot quicker....it won't.

We have to run the diesel trannies behind our trucks. Sadly, that makes me have about 80lbs more spinning weight than I need. Simply law of phyiscs. My converter weighs almost 60lbs. The converter is WAY to tight for drag racing. It's at least 1500rpm's to tight, if not 2000. The big heads on my truck have killed the bottom end. This combo is killing it in the first 100-150 feet. This isn't the tranny I WANT to run, but right now, I don't have much of a choice. I have another option, but it would kill the street ability of the truck and I don't want that.
I JUST got the truck finished last week. Nobody cares about 1/8th mile stuff on the VTCOA.com board which is where my entire build has been documented over the past 11 months. Once I make my full 1/4 mile pass in the 10's, I'll gladly post video/time slips/info about the entire truck.
I appreciate you assuming it's "miss speak" though .
Ahh gotcha, someone on the other board vtcoa was claiming it had nitrous and all types of other things. I just want to be the first quad cab to go in the 10's The nitrous boys are going to blow me away once they get running
That's fast in a truck!
You are going to have to run a bit quicker than a 7.16 to get in the 10's. Using a reasonable conversion factor it puts you at 11.1.

Yup, under normal conversions you're exactly right. I left easy on the truck and feel I can make up the difference. I had some nasty tire shake, gotta put more air in the tires. Hopefully all of that will get me there.

That is why a 6 speed would be a lot quicker.

You just finished last week but you were running it a month ago ? when you say you run like the below quote...."Miss speak" is a nice word for stupid statements you can't back up. The truck forum guys may not know any better, but some of us do. That's why I called bullshit on the truck forum. I'm not "assuming" just stating facts.
Shit with a 6 speed no telling what that thing can do.....maybe 14 to 93 in one second
p.s. If you have another option, then you don't "HAVE" to run a diesel tranny.
Quote: "I was only running 14mph at half track and 93 330' later in 2.5 seconds"

My option is to install a 6 speed or put in a tranny that isn't street worth but would fly on the track. To me, the latter isn't an option.
On the other issue, I came back and posted the mph clocks were screwed up and I didn't know that. I still have the time slip to show that. When I made that run I was running the smaller pulley on my truck. I took it back down to Roe for all the final touches. That is what I mean by just getting it finished. That previous run was nothing more than a simple test to see where we were at before the final tune.
I waiting on a call back from the track on if I can go today. If I can, I'll have all the video's/time slips by the end of the day. If they can't do it today, we're going to try and run it tomorrow morning. Just have to work around the track owner.
p.s. I believe I borrowed one of your dad's trucks to get parts once upon a time at Rockingham. I had to build the tow truck tranny (727) in the trailer in order to get home.
