Is there somewhere I can look or someway to calculate what speed, rpms, etc. I would be at with one gear vs. another gear? If say after a length of distance I am at 180mph and 5000rpms with my 3.07's what speed/rpm would I be at with 3.55's?
Well, for that it is pretty simple. If you are going 180 with 3.07's you will be going (3.07/3.55) * 180 = 155 with your 3.55 gears. For more, look here:
Norice, are you looking at changing your gears to 3.55's? I have thought about that also but I don't like the fact that it will take away 20-30mph from my top speed. But good luck though. Looks like your car doesn't have to worry about that because of the work you have done to it. Good luck
No sorry can't be because then it would not be the TOP speed because it would still have another Gear Left. I am not trying to be rude so don't worry.
You may not be trying to be rude, but you are definitely clueless when it comes to Viper transmissions and gearing.
The stock Viper does achieve its TOP speed in 5th gear. 6th gear is only for highway cruising to reduce gas consumption. A stock Viper can not realize the theoretical top speed of 6th gear. 5th gear is the fastest gear.
Well Kai if you read the first couple of lines I wasen't trying to say that No top speed is in 6th gear, that is why I don't like writing things sometimes because they come across different. What I meant was, no way, it can't be done in 5th gear because it still has another gear?? That is all that i forgot was the question mark but thank you for correcting me. That was something that I was interested in finding out because I didn't know that. I have never been Top speed in the Viper, always too afraid, I have in the Saleen but still nothing compared. The reason why I come here is to first learn but also share some things that I have learned also.

You sure? Mathematically I would hit 202mph in my 5th gear. I have gotten to 198mph with about 500rpms left before redline in 5th gear and still pulling like a freight train. So if I shift into 6th, I should accelerate past 202mph no problem. I have no experience in this as I have just taken my car to 5500rpms in 5th. So far I have not shifted into 6th at that speed.
So which one is it? 5th gear TOP speed or 6th gear top speed?? I have never heard of a car where 5th gear was the top gear in a 6 speed tranny because my old 02 WRX had 6 gears with 6th gear being top gear, 03 Cobra's which use T-56's just like the Viper, yes the T-56 is alittle different then the Cobra's but top speed is in 6th gear. I am really confused now!!! Can anyone answer this??
6th is such a high gear that a stock Viper (or Vette) does not have the power to push it and actually can run faster in fifth. I would be surprised if this was not the case for Mustangs as well.
