The Z07 is not rumored, its been confirmed. Thats why there are more details about that car. The only real suprise here with the 08 Viper is what level HP they are stepping up to and what price for this new level of HP. There are not going to be any radical design changes between what you see now and whats released, a new front fascia, new hood to accomadate the new engine and new wheels. I think alot of people are going to be disappointed when it gets released finally, however the smart ones will buy a 06 at a huge discount, strap on a paxton/small TT setup and call it a day and beat anything out there.
That is just rumor and wishful thinking. You are also in denial.
I didn't realize the Z07 was confirmed by Chevy. Can you point me to an article?
You're right sam...I wish I had an old RT 10 like you....wait I did...when it was new....many many years ago. When I get a new 2008 Viper I will sell you mine used....since that's your style

Rumor, wishful thinking, spy shots of Vipers wearing funky hoods (and even funkier intakes, but funky in a way that matches up neatly with those rumors) undergoing hot-weather testing with a factory support team, numerous reports from suppliers and DCX partners of an 8.4L V10-powered 08 showing up in the various systems, lots and lots and LOTS of hints from people who were right about Charger and Challenger and the SRT-4 and so on all the way back to the Gen 3 intro and before... yeah, denial, that's the word.
FYI, Captian Obvious....
I no longer have the '01, if you were capable of reading a sig, you'd know these things.
I see you haven't made the world a better place yet by throwing yourself off a tall building.

Rut Roh George,
Sounds like you are in denial as well. No factual information ever came directly from any source you 'quote'. It was always from a guy who knew a guy etc.... Perhaps you can name a supplier for the production 8.4L V-10 that will verify they are shipping in production quantities.
The spy photos turned out to be a bunch of BS if you recall. Just a 'bra' on the hood.
Sorry, no new 650 hp viper for 2008. Looks more like the end of the road to me.
Next thing you will tell me is that Cogswell Cogs is buying Spacely Sprockets.

Well, no, actually, some firsthand info was made available. Not here, maybe. But this isn't the only board on the web. And not all conversations are public. It's true that nothing is ever definite until it's being offloaded at the dealers, but it's also true that a lot of work has been done, and the claims being made are broadly accurate.
As to the supplier, nobody's shipping "in production quantities" months before job one. And it's stupid to suggest that anyone would "verify" it before the model was announced. But the name of the firm who did the engineering and prototyping is pretty well known. There's even a pic of the engine on their site, if you look carefully enough. And yes, I can name them. But I'm not your research department.
Oh, and riddle me this: if CG has made the decision to kill the Viper, why wasn't it announced months ago? Nothing would clear the inventory faster.

R&D takes place all the time, so seeing a handful of nifty V-10s is no big deal. Gearing up for a production run will not be kept top secret, it is too hard to do.
Coming out an killing the Viper isn't going to help inventory move, that would take a miracle. Face it, DC has let all the Viper enthusiats down. The whole SRT thing is the new branding for performance, so when they finally own up to eliminating the Viper they will just claim they are continuing with the SRT performance tradion with the other SRT line.
By the way, weren't all these great sources the same ones that said we would hear something at VOI last night?
Hey, I am dissapointed as well. I really would like to get the phantom Viper everyone is talking about.
