As far as the sloppy feel, the B&M improves that a bit. As far as the length, I went with another shift lever. The B&M doesn't include the shift lever, just the mechanism that attaches to the top of the transmission. You can change one or the other, or both (as I did). The Hurst includes the lever, but your choice of shift knob is quite limited.
Actually the B&M does include a lever, but if you use the standard knob it will be the same height as stock. Most of the length is a shaft that is attached to the knob.
