Gents, ready to write check for 06' SRT10, please help on a couple ?'s

Just test drove an 06' SRT10 coupe and I am in love, it's so raw ... it will be a cash deal & dealer is willing to deal..

Here are my ?'s

- They're willing to work from Invoice, has anyone here bought at Invoice or below Invoice?

- Is the snake much more reliable than C6 corvettes & Z06 (Corvettes get black marks in consumer reports (flying roofs, ect.., but I can't find info for Vipers). I've owned NSX, Supras, Lexus, so I am used to reliability. I know these cars aren't Vipers, but I wouldn't want an 75-80K + sitting in the shop more than I drive it.

- It will be a weekend & nice weather car, I am leaving it stock, I known the down side is gas and tires wear quick on heavy throttle Is it expensive to maintain like other exotics like Porsche, Ferrraris, are there scheduled maintance that Dodge dealers can gouges consumers, or just gas and have fun car.

- Is there any current TSBs, recalls or known major issues?

Thanks for your help, God bless.

ETA: Just bought the baby, will post pics soon.

A thought for consideration.
They are coming out with newly a designed Viper in 2008 with a rumored 650 hp.
If they follow through with those numbers, the $$$ values of the current cars may drop substantially as many may be looking to trade / sell their current cars for the 650 hp car.

Food for thought.

Amazingly simple cars that run and run. Fit, finish, overall quality, etc will be different than Japanese vehicles but if you have spent time in one and like it, go for it. They really are exciting cars that require no special (expensive) care, other than with the go pedal. Watch out for the torque and enjoy.

Get them under invoice, or say fuck em. Look in the classifieds. Mike at Ringgold dodge is offering $5,000 under invoice on a few coupes. I am sure if you gave him a call, he would be willing to find you a better deal than invoice.

I would wait for the new model. If the rumors are true, this new Viper may be an evolution in progress like that of the new Z06. I would imagine if a Viper is completely redesigned with weight reduction and 650 horse, it would definately run circles around the new Z06. It's not all about waiting for a car with a better power to weight ratio either, it will more than likely come with improved handling and driveablility improvements over the current model. All this with a new look might warrant waiting another year or so.

Well, the slated dark pearl silver coupe w/ polished mesh looking wheels is sleeping in my garage, got her for 1K+ under Invoice, had to call every dealer w/ in 100+ miles of DFW to find the color I wanted.

Thanks for all the advices, but I didn't really care to wait for 08' for 650hp, this SRT is plenty fine for me. Wife says I am still grinning from the drive home, I'll post pics this weekend when I get the chance. Wife says since I got a nice toy, now I need to go feed and diapers my two babies ...

Sounds like you picked up a beautiful car. That color is sweet. I also just bought a new coupe because I didn't see the need to wait (and pay more?). And, I'm finding that the 510 hp of the current car is more than enough for the street. In fact, I can't find anywhere to really get into it and it kinda sucks. You cruise around in a beast that is just bucking to go and as soon as you find a spot to rip real quick in 1st and 2nd, it's time to back out. And you should now that I'm not just saying its enough power because I'm not used to hauling ass - I race superbike motorcycles that can zip up to 190mph in a jiff. It's just I can't find any place I could ever use more hp.

Now post those pics.
