Corsa Track vs. Borla Race

Ok, I got back my 06 coupe today with the Borla Race exhaust. Because I never found a good video (with sound) of both systems, I downloaded one onto streetfire.net...Tell me what you think...

I don't know why, but I don't really care for the sound of the gen 3. I prefer the sound of a Gen 2 with an exhaust.

ya I agree, it has alot to do with the side exhaust and seperating the exhaust pulses. If they both exited near eachother it would sound better.

I think they both sound mean...

My question.
Is the 06 without cats as implied?

Also, yes, the borla sounds deeper and meaner, but at what cost.
Resonance at mid rpms. SUCKS....
Been there.
I know the Corsa has zero.

Again would like to see the Corsa head to head without cats if that's the case.

Both will scare the f out of people under w.o.t.

Also, very nice work, I wish everyone would take vids like this of their exhausts.

Would save us a ton of $$$ and know we are getting the sound we want.

Two thumbs up !
This should be a prerequisite to anyone modding an exhaust.

POST IT !!!!!!!!

Thank you, yes the 06 coupe has not cats, I'm waiting on my downstream sims to get the computer straight (check engine light).

I can tell the Borla will give me a headache if I drive it to long at to high of an RPM, but it does sound nasty...plus I can always buy advil...

Mid rpm resonance will drive you nuts my good man.
I got to the point of removing my entire exhaust system completely on my previous Vette .. Pipes and tips only.
Experiemented with 4 diff. exhausts.

Straight pipes solved it.
SICKKKKKKKKKK and loud, but no more of that ' humming ' at low rpms.

Corsa is THE only one who has found a way to elimate that.

Try the Corsa w Random techs.

Will be a different story I'll bet

Actually, my silver roadster is a Corsa Track, it definetly does not suffer from the humming and has a deeper sound. I just didn't want both cars to sound the same. I'm wondering if some high flow cats would tame the Borla system? Or maybe at least help...

Corsa is the only one.
Borla, B and B, Flowmaster, Belanger, ..... on and on and on..
Corsa is the only one to patent their technology to elimiate the resonance.
Recently spoke to a guy with a Gen II and his wife and asked about his exhaust.
Borla.
She hates it, and he can't deal with the resonance either.
It will wear on you man.
I can tell you that there isn't any at all.
Under W.O.T, as it sounds like you know, it is F. ING loud !

Throw some Random techs on the 06 and Corsas !!!

SICK !!!!!!!

Side note, wish that Borla sound could eliminate the resonance as well.

Truth..
They can't

Is that true, I was told with the race exhaust the Viper picks up 10 to 15 hp. I guess we could throw it on the dyno and find out

well it does come from an extremely reliable source of mine. it sucks because i really would have prefered the borla over the corsa, not to mention the corsa cost me $1180 shipped to my door, and the borlas would have been $350 to $400 less

I think it is the firing order of the motor. But I am not a mechanic and I am not for sure on that. Kinda like a Harley compared to the Jap V twins.

I love my Corsa! It took me awhile to get used to the sound, but you crack the throttle on that baby and it sounds like a top fueler. It scares the shit out of everybody and I set all the car alarms off as I am driving by.

I believe the Harley sounds different because it has a common crank pin (which I believe they patented) rather than dual crank Pins. The older Honda Shadow ACEs sounded very much like a Harley, even though they were 3 valve, SOHC heads with twin spark plug ignition.

Mike, who did your exhaust install?
Did they remove all 4 cats?
The 02 sims will prevent any check engine codes?
Do you think the Corsa with no cats would sound better than the borla with no cats?

Thanks,

Tom

Greenway Dodge Chrysler Jeep installed system, and they did remove all emmissions. Don't have the sims installed on the downstream (kit didn't come with them), but I was told they would clear the check engine light.

I've always liked the way the Corsa sounds...but, I like the Borla to. I think it's personal preference at this point. I just didn't want two cars that sounded the same...
