Ok, I got back my 06 coupe today with the Borla Race exhaust. Because I never found a good video (with sound) of both systems, I downloaded one onto streetfire.net...Tell me what you think...
Mid rpm resonance will drive you nuts my good man.
I got to the point of removing my entire exhaust system completely on my previous Vette .. Pipes and tips only.
Experiemented with 4 diff. exhausts.
Straight pipes solved it.
SICKKKKKKKKKK and loud, but no more of that ' humming ' at low rpms.
Corsa is THE only one who has found a way to elimate that.
Actually, my silver roadster is a Corsa Track, it definetly does not suffer from the humming and has a deeper sound. I just didn't want both cars to sound the same. I'm wondering if some high flow cats would tame the Borla system? Or maybe at least help...
Corsa is the only one.
Borla, B and B, Flowmaster, Belanger, ..... on and on and on..
Corsa is the only one to patent their technology to elimiate the resonance.
Recently spoke to a guy with a Gen II and his wife and asked about his exhaust.
Borla.
She hates it, and he can't deal with the resonance either.
It will wear on you man.
I can tell you that there isn't any at all.
Under W.O.T, as it sounds like you know, it is F. ING loud !
Throw some Random techs on the 06 and Corsas !!!
SICK !!!!!!!
Side note, wish that Borla sound could eliminate the resonance as well.
Is that true, I was told with the race exhaust the Viper picks up 10 to 15 hp. I guess we could throw it on the dyno and find out
well it does come from an extremely reliable source of mine. it sucks because i really would have prefered the borla over the corsa, not to mention the corsa cost me $1180 shipped to my door, and the borlas would have been $350 to $400 less
I love my Corsa! It took me awhile to get used to the sound, but you crack the throttle on that baby and it sounds like a top fueler. It scares the shit out of everybody and I set all the car alarms off as I am driving by.
I think it is the firing order of the motor. But I am not a mechanic and I am not for sure on that. Kinda like a Harley compared to the Jap V twins.
I believe the Harley sounds different because it has a common crank pin (which I believe they patented) rather than dual crank Pins. The older Honda Shadow ACEs sounded very much like a Harley, even though they were 3 valve, SOHC heads with twin spark plug ignition.
Mike, who did your exhaust install?
Did they remove all 4 cats?
The 02 sims will prevent any check engine codes?
Do you think the Corsa with no cats would sound better than the borla with no cats?
Greenway Dodge Chrysler Jeep installed system, and they did remove all emmissions. Don't have the sims installed on the downstream (kit didn't come with them), but I was told they would clear the check engine light.
I've always liked the way the Corsa sounds...but, I like the Borla to. I think it's personal preference at this point. I just didn't want two cars that sounded the same...
