After the flack I got at tech and after my second run (11.48) this weekend at the Pinks "All Out", I decided to at least entertain a "real" rollbar. At least this one doesn't hack-up the interior. What difference will this make regarding ET regs, if any? Not bad considering I bounced off the limiter in 2nd and 3rd and I've only had 5 passes...in any car.
It doesn't count as a roll bar for NHRA tracks. An NHRA legal roll bar has to have a door bar to run under the E.T. rules.
If you were running 11.5 or slower, you might be able to get yourself in under the pure stock rules, but at 11.49 you wouldn't meet that exemption, even if you could convince the tech guys that you were stock.
I've got an Autoform bar, and it's passed tech at every racing venue I've been in, except for NHRA tracks.
So, it sounds like you'll need a door bar. I'm having a removable door bar fabricated by my local shop. Hopefully, that will solve my NHRA tech issues.
Hey I saw you run. What all have you done to the car because that has to be one of the best looking vipers I have seen. Also for tech, that will not pass at a NHRA track just like Kai said, but having the autoform bars along with removable door bars will pass you. Anyways, you car looked stock besides the window tenting, did you get it lowered or anything?
Cool thanks! Good luck on the roll bar. Next time you go to the track, let me know, I was the guy at the starting line with the black hat that lined everyone up. I am considered a on site tech so if anything goes wrong on the track or on the starting line then I am there to catch it. That is why I got a good look at the car. I have a Saleen right now but thinking about a 2003 SRT-10 that I have been looking at for about a year. I owned a 96 GTS about 3 years ago but I sold it mainly because of the brake issue that mine had. Just waiting for the right time. Don't worry I won't copy you but has to be one of the best looking! If you need help then let me know, I also get wholesale on any and all performance parts through my company.
I need some 1/4 mile coaching. Does anyone offer that at TMP? I've got a grand total of 5 runs down the track...wanting more. I think I'm leaving 8-9 tenths on the table with my lack of "seat time".
Yeah actually I can offer that. You can either take a course or come out on a friday and you can run as many times as you want. Give me a call 214-289-3195.
Your car should be running down in the 10.3's with the RSI set up that I believe that you have so we will help you get to that. So let me know if you want to meet up.
I understand if you track your car you would want to add this for safety...but I have met people who do it for looks...and I dont get it....it hacks up the design of the rear panel...even the autoform looks VERY CHEAP on the rear panel with this set-up...
Kllymartin are you coming out to the track this Friday? People are waiting to see that car again..... Gavin Jerome from Pinks wants to check it out if you are up for it.
