I ran XM for a while, but pulled the XM unit out of the car because I didn't use it. If anyone wants to buy the XM setup that hooks to the stock Viper or RB1 radios, PM me and I'll give you a smoking deal.
In answer to your question, when I ran the XM, I could never get a good signal with the antenna hidden anywhere. I think the GPS works well in the hidden location because it only needs an intermittent satellite signal, whereas the satellite radio needs a constant satellite signal. I had to stick my XM antenna on my dash.
Here's one, but I'm sure you can do better if you keep checking.
Remembrt this is the same unit in most dodge and chrysler (Voyager, Caravan, Durango e.t.c) so it's nothing special and there's no need for the Viper tax.

Try to find one out of the newest car possible and make sure it has the disk and antenna.
As far as sirius, get one for a 2006 model car as for the sirius antennas are smaller on the newer cars. With some creative riggin you can fit everything behind the radio. I velcroed the sirius box just above the radio and the sirius antenna was attached behind vent just to the left of the radio.
Exactly. Don't pay that guy on the morgue $1300-1400 for one. I got mine for around $700 brand new off ebay.

I am assuming you are refering to me. Sorry, No viper tax here. If you are getting an RB1 for less than 1300, it is a pull-out or a reman. period. I make less than 10% on them, and I get them direct from alpine's distributor, and the same place Dodge & Dodge Dealers get them from. I sell them for less than most dodge dealers PAY for them. there is a reason they list for 1599.00- because they are expensive. The market is flooded with them however due to auction cars having them pulled out with a stock radio tossed in to make a quick buck...thats where they all come from...or stolen.
PS- that one on auction has old software. so plan on paying a few hundred bucks for a new disc if you buy it... I ran into many missing roads with that software, especially in Canada.

so whats the difference between the rb1 and rb4? are they the same size?
yes, same size.
RB1- navigation with full maping/Voice. DVD based (1 disc). Disc must be installed when Navigation is running.
RB4- Turn By Turn directions only, no mapping. CD Based (2 discs). Disc does not need to be installed when Nav is running. HOWEVER, if you deviate from the route you loaded previously, it must be reinstalled to re-route your route. (lol...that looks funny... english is goofy...)
The RB1 is technically the upper end unit...but whatever floats your boat.
