I have seen the light. I was looking at a slightly non current thread about the APE Hardtop and as some of you know there is a problem right now. Many are wondering if the C6 Z06 is faster than an SRT 10. Depending on which SRT 10, yes. The Coupe however has an advantage over the Vette: 5 horsepower and 60 ft/lbs of torque. More and more videos of the Z06 killing convertibles are popping up and it's making us look bad. I have yet to see a race between a Coupe and the Vette. I may be wrong so correct me as neccesary but I think that the convertibles are losing because:
1) They're soft tops
2) They don't have 510 hp and 535 lb/ft
3) They usually have an extra passenger (dead weight)
4) The drivers aren't as experienced as they should be
Even more bad news, as some of you know, Chevy is planning a 600 hp Corvette for the next time around. Where are we? Already ahead of them! Most of us haven't even realized it but it is true. Our key to victory is the Carbon Concept. Chevy wants to play games and they think it's going to be an easy win. Even more aggresive styling, 625 hp, hundreds of pounds lighter than current models, and a removable hardtop roof that everybody desires, along with APE's work? You do the math. That car is EASILY capable of bitch slapping a Z06 and taking out their concept as well. We have our key to supremacy that can fulfill every ones wishes for the next Viper. So please, bear with me everybody. What can we do to bring this to DC's attention and can we make this dream a reality?
The coupe and convertible SRT-10 have EXACTLY the same motors. The change in hp comes from SAE changing the way in which the motors are rated last year.
The reason Z06s have an advantage is primarily weight, but they also benefit from different gearing and a traction control system.
Finally, I think you are a fucking idiot who who be better off at www.viperclub.org (affectionately referred to as the morgue) where you won't be ripped to shreds by guys like me.
And yes, I am considering rep for you. Negative rep.

Anyone considering rep for me yet?
1. The Z06 will beat a Coupe, a vert, and any current stock car with the label "SRT" on it. Sad, but true.
2. You have got to be kidding me..........
3. Just more excuses from someone that can't believe that a corvette has actually surpassed the viper.
Can I also have negative rep?!?! PLEASE!!!!! I NEVER get neg rep!
You know.. the C6Z06 wins this round that is true... I have a feeling the Corvette is only going to get better and better and be a real bitch for any car to beat, if form continues.. I think we will be seeing the C7 be at 500HP and the C7z06 at 600..
Well that was just an idea for the next model to compete with Chevy once more for now and I could care less if the Vette has surpassed the Viper because in reality it hasn't. Why don't we play the modification card and see who is where?

1) Being a Viper Alley President, I hope that you would at least understand where I'm coming from. You don't produce a Concept to not have it, or parts of it, show up somewhere down the line right? EG, Comp Coupe.
2) Thank you but I'm still in one piece and as for the The Morgue, I could really care less.
3) Rep is rep. I hope you guys aren't the only ones that read this and get on my ass about it.
4) It's just nice to get your two cents out every now and then.
The z06 is top dog, it even gives the GT a run for it's money, and kicks gallardo ass.. bottom line, hell it even gets unheard of gas mileage while it's kicking ass and taking names!

Is that all you have to fall back on that the Viper has better modding capability? Also, if you read your first post, you were comparing that cars stock for stock smart one.

Just in case you decide to go and edit your post, here is the original.
That is true.. heh sorry I should have mentioned that..
I think the Viper and Z06 are both awesomely fast cars.. the benefit of the Viper is more exclusivity and the benefit of the z06 is more performance, right now..
That is the original and I wasn't planning on changing it. I already knew about the power ratings and stuff but sometimes it does make a difference but the GT is still faster than both of them. I don't mean to make war with anyone but this was all just a brainfart. I thought it would at least be cool to mention the fact that there are already existing plans for two 600+ hp cars from rival car companies and that one of them was already built, proven, (and driven home temporarily by one lucky guy). It does sound like all I have to fall back on is mod capabilty, but when these two are ranked among cars that cost more than the both of them combined, S7 TT for example, it doesn't hurt to do so because it's all about bang for buck, right? I know the Vette more than likely owns the middle price range stock but when the cars are modified to go against "supercars", the Viper takes the middle in that category. The Carbon just seemed promising, can't we at least agree on that?
The 06 z06 is a great car hell I would love to have one. But owning a a 02 zo6 thats worth 30k and thinking about selling it for a new 80k z06 just doesnt add up. It's not 50k better to me. Sure there will be a newer vette and newer viper but the price is going be upwards or over 100k+ markup. It's the main reason I bought the 96TT, it's timeless and no factory car is gonna be anywhere near as fast. Now if I had the money of some guys on here sure I would buy the latest and greatest everytime. I could spend less than 10k on my 02 z and be just as fast as a 06 zo6. Sure it doesnt have the poser status but I dont really care. I think the 03-05 srt prices are pretty good right now, definatly up there with the bang for the buck with the c5 z06. I think looks have more influence that performance. I wouldnt buy a new viper unless it made my 96 look like shit and I dont see that happening
They are so close in performance that it doesn't matter. What it really comes down to is a drivers race, if you would stop magazine racing and go out and learn to drive your car.....
