go to the vette forums, many of them are far far better behaved than the guys here, the guys here are much closer to that shit guido mentality..
Corvette owners also buy porsches, BMW's etc. It's not the case that all of them are gold chain wearing pricks..
No...don't get me wrong. I never called them pricks...just not the kind of people I woudl hang around. I am sure the Z06 guys are "car" people, if not they wouldn't have bought the car. But the majority of the guys I have encountered are that hairy chested stereotype (even some of the Viper owners ).
As far as Viper owners, this is my second Viper. I know what you are saying...some of the owners I have encountered were complete asses. You would think they were driving F40s or Enzos. This car is not that expensive...it's just raw and I like that.
I don't think I am an ass (but the vote is still out), I am just a car guy. I love the auto in almost all its forms, heck this the 36th car I have owned and I am 36.
I love both cars...I just like the rare nature of a Viper. Drive around for hours and hours and count them. Then do the same for Z06 Vettes and Porsches.

I agree that is why I also purchased a viper, There are an aful lot of corvettes around..
Think about it though.. most vettes are 50-70k, for that same pricepoint anyone can buy a used viper.. However people seem to pick a vette over a viper.. the question is why? Same with porsche 911 carrera's, they cost 80k+ and I see them every single day I walk outside..
The viper is a brute and rare, but I think the lack of creature comforts and technology are the reason you don't see them around.. There isn't a demand for them, part of the problem with the srt's sitting on lots..
So people that have the cash would rather dish it out on an overall better or more capable car..
I am like you I have that viper bug.. I look at them and I just had to get one.. but I can also see the reason many people would spend their 55k on a vette with HUD and z51 and gps etc. etc. or a cayman S or something like that..
I can do something in the SRT that no Z06 can do, and that is put the top down in 30 seconds.
Until someone else comes out with a true convertible that can touch the viper I will be keeping my SRT. There is nothing out there that can match the Viper in bang for the buck and take the top down on a sunny day.
That's just an after-market hack job ... the modified and lightened Z06 frame wasn't designed to hold up as a convertable. ... probably costs considerably more than an SRT, as well.

we'll if it was a dodge they would have made the vert fist then slapped a roof on it

And you'd be wrong....Its not a hack job....This car is a regular C6 vert with the Z06 body pieces, brakes, suspension etc on it....Wish the guy dropped the Z06 engine as well but he kept the reg engine and supercharged it...It looks good and if GM wanted to they could do a Z06 Vert.....There would be an acceptable tradeoff with chassis stiffness but it looks great as a vert...
bmw guys stereotype the interior of the srt like it has no comfort or amenities - the inside of the srt10 fits me like a glove and the interior has all the amenities i need - my 6 and 4 year old would rather ride with me (one at a time)than travel with their mother in a loaded armada(dvd etc)....Besides when i'm driving i spend 99% of my time looking at the road, scenery and other drivers especially at high speeds... i have a 70K bmw also sitting in my garage and i have to force myself to take a break from the viper which is my everyday driver

That's because there is no subsitute for the masterpeice they have for adjusting the radio, climate controls etc.... The only car where you can spend more time playing with a computer than driving. I can say that too, I own a BMW. Last one too, until they drop the damn thing. I am so happy I have the last 5 series model before they incorporated that thing.
