200+ Mph On Drag Radial

WHEN THE MOTOR TREND GUYS TESTED OUR VENOM 1000 SRT-C, THEY TOOK THE AIR OPERATIONS OFFICER, CHRIS "FIDEL" CASTRO FOR A RIDE AT THE END OF THE 2 DAYS OF TESTING.

WE HAD JUST COMPLETED A 10.5 @ 153.5 MPH DRAG RADIAL 1/4 MILE PASS. THE MOTOR TREND TEST DRIVER COMES BACK AROUND AND ASKS "FIDEL" IF HE WANTS A "CHECK RIDE". SO THEY GO OUT AND PROCEDE TO BURRY THE SPEEDO TO SOME INSANE SPEED IN EXCESS OF 200 MPH.

WHEN THEY COME BACK, I TELL THE MT TEST DRIVER - 'HEY MAN, DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU JUST DID THAT ON A PAIR OF DRAG RADIALS RUNNING ABOUT 20 PSI OF TIRE PRESSURE?" HE SAYS SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF "CAR FELT FINE". ANYWAY, HERE IS THE VIDEO:

http://www.motortrend.com/multimedia...arison_videos/

ANY DAY I CAN BUILD A CAR THAT IMPRESSES AN F18 PILOT WITH OVER 3000 HRS OF COMBAT FLYING - THEN THAT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY.

I have been to 180-190 with BFG's @ 22-23psi and they felt fine to me. Not something I would do for more than a couple of miles though. Congrats on winning the comparison.

Nice pics John, I have done 190 mph on Kumho V700 and they felt fine. What drag radials were you running?

Personally, I've never been over 180 with them but didn't spend much time up there either. For short bursts, 200 is fine. I'd let them cool for a while before doing it again though.

That coupe looks fantastic with those wheels. I loved the part in the video that they were shifting early through 4th due to wheelspin and being afraid to get the car sideways.
