A friend that works for Magna recieved an RFQ from DCX for the 2008 Viper, it had a production volume of 30,000 units annually. Has anyone heard that DCX was looking to boost volumes to this level? Sounds like a pipe dream to me. I will check with someone at the Featherstone PVO.
Even at 30K/yr wouldn't that make the Firepower more rare then the run of the mill C6?
Seems like if this is the case, DC is trying to align itself to GM in that it will have a low production "super" car and a high volume "sports" car with the same platform.
On a different note, did you see the NBC thing they did about GM. Lutz walked them through the R&D center for Cadillac and showed some teasers of new models, one of which appeared to be a replacement for the CTS, and they were nice.

Chevy makes 30-35K vettes a year, my guess was a shot in the dark and unless DC has installed a huge assembly line at CAAP I don't see them mass producing the firepower there. CAAP is simply too small to handle mass production from what I recall. If this "rumor" is true it is definately because DC wants to amortize the costly parts on the Viper as well as make the entire platform more profitable. The Firepower was a sweet concept, lets hope it translates directly to a production version.
I saw that segment on GM tonight and I must say that caddy Lutz was teasing us with looked pretty damn good, like he said, companies seem to produce their best shit when they are in dire straits. Dodge did it and GM is starting to. Even though I don't necessarily like their cars aside from the Vette, the cars they are making now are leaps and bounds ahead of what they were making just 5 years ago, they should do much better if they can get their costs in line.

Let us know what you find when you check this out.
maybe it is a typo and should have said 3000/yr or possibly a combination of firepower and viper production. Another possiblilty is that it was just the viper engine production that would cover vipers, and ram srt curious to see what you find out

Dodge can barely sell the amount of vipers they make right now, let alone start selling 30,000 a year.
If it's the same price as a base C6 Vette, I think people would love a 425hp luxo Viper. Yes, I do think they can sell 28000 per year. If Chevy can sell 40000 Vettes this year....there must be PLENTY of retards out there!
There are only so many buyers for that type of car and DC will be fighting Corvette for them. Coming out with a similar Dodge does not mean there will be 35000 Vettes and 20+ thousand Viper lites sold. I would suspect the total number not to change drastically and Tupperware owners love their cars. It would be a tough fight for DC but good for the buyers.
