2002 - 2004 were recession years for almost any kind of sales also.I think Craig would be very suprised if the economy were in the same condition of lets say pre-2000 for the Dodge Viper.

As far as eating everyone of your posts like Chris said, you'd better find something to drink with all that paper.

I parked at a restaurant for lunch last weekend. Directly across the parking isle from a 2006 C6 Z06. I was in my GenII GTS. As I walked out I had a CROWD of people around AND walking towards my GTS. I couldn't believe it!! I thought for sure the Z06 would attract more attention..... NOt even close. They were actuallly yelling across the parking lot to thier other friends to check out the Viper. FInally they spotted the Z06 as I was backing out "Oh there's a Corvette".. LOL!!

Like Chris said, I believe they sell more SRT coupes and convertibles than they ever did Gen 2's. That is a win for DC and I do not think they care about our (the gearheads and Viper faithful) very small opinion, at least not compared to sales. I don't blame them a bit as it is a biz afterall.

I bought a Ford GT because it was the only option once that street comp coupe never arrived. It has the wow factor the SRT's just do not possess.

The Vette is by far the best bang for the buck. It is the definition of bang for the buck. It out performs and costs less - that is a slam dunk.

The Ford GT is perhaps the coolest American car ever built, save the $500k stuff.

The SRT really has no solid place in the market and seems to sell primarily due to the very powerful "Viper" name. And the dead pedal, of course.

Everyone's got valid points IMO. I love the new SRT-C, but I never realized they used the GTS taillights. That soured the image of the SRT-C alot (atleast for me), but it slowly trickled away. I'm very happy with how the SRT-C looks, but was disapointed that:

A) They knew the Z06 was coming for a very long time...I was hoping they would have come up with something to counter this...they certainly had enough time to.

B)Using the same taillights is inexcusible.

But at the end, I'll be very very happy if I had either coupes.

I just don't get it.

So what?

Do you realize they used Mitsu 3000GT mirrors on all Gen I and II?

Does that sour you on I and IIs?

I think the taillight treatment on the SRTC is awesome. Inset about 1/2" into the rear fascia and shrouded by the spoiler. Much nicer than flush and exposed......and yet, still carries on the Viper heritage.

But....... just an opinion.

It's always interesting to see what people jump all over.

Even the seam and short stripe at the roof is a non-issue. The GTS had a stupid plastic piece velcroed to the A-pillar. Was that better.

Nobody made the no-stripe-through-the-license-area a deal breaker for Is and IIs.

No. I just don't get it.

No. I just don't get it.

The main reason I'm a little upset regarding the taillights is because they had an oppurtunity to do something different...even if it is a little change. Before you jump down my throat, you must realize that I believe the SRT-C's rear end is more attractive than the GTS's.

Using other car parts is common practice in the manufacturing industry, (hell, the lambo diablo uses Nissan's 300zx headlights) but I just wished they didn't use a previous generation's (what I mean by previous generation is off of the same car...ie a Viper) parts....I wish they took the SRT-10 tailights and worked off of that, or used another car's parts (be it a sebring or whatever)...going forward instead of backwards..perhaps even changing the light to LEDS or change the color of the lenses (ie darker plastic or all red and no amber).

Again, if you gave me the choice between a GTS and an SRT-C, I'd have a very, very hard time deciding. I like them both.

It's kinda like Porsche...each 911 generation looks very, very similar, yet they hardly (if ever) use the same panels. When Porsche made the 911 headlights identical to those of the boxster, it caused an uproar.

I want to see the SRT-C get the same design respect it deserved from Dodge.

Hey Craig, please explain the race wins that the Gen I experienced. Did the fact that it lost on a regular basis affect the Gen I value or saleability? Note I owned a Gen I back before there was a Gen II and they could not survive on the LeMans circuit. Bad transmissions and poor tire life were the main culprits. Obviously fixed with the GTSR but not until 1997, 5 years after the original. Guess that could not have impacted sales prior to that date.

How about Lamborghini? Or the Ford GT (the current one)? Same story. Racing can add value but it is not a necessary requirement.

I won't get into the debate about value as that is pretty straight forward. The Gen I provided a great buy at the time. My 1995 was 57k out the door including luxury tax. My 2003 was in the low 80's. We did not have that much inflation - the real cost was definitely higher. And though it was obvious there was conservation taken back in 1995, it was not in the area of performance or appearance. That is the value part that is obvious to me now.

Craig, you are on your own. I wasn't offended by any of your rambling until you actually thought enough of yourself to think that I would spend time having an argument with you. We will just agree to disagree, if you are able to do that. There have been some great points about cars and their sharing of parts, especially on your beloved GTS. I love the GTS, and the SRT...I just can't see the point of spending your admitted 10 minutes posting the same shit day after day. For some time savings, perhaps use a cut and paste from one of the hundreds of previous posts of yours. Look at the number of sales of the SRT, it is substantially more than the GTS, and the coupe will follow. Print that page out and do what you please with it. I personally thank Dodge for putting the brakes on production so all of us won't continue to take such a bath on these cars.

Supply and demand is elementry, and that is my only guess as to why you like to talk about it.

As for the Vette...again, great bang for the buck, just not what I would look for when spending 75-80K.

And finally, I sold my white mamba and silver SRT because I don't like people seeing in the car, and the top down experience offers that. Your pathetic rambling on this topic does indeed prove your status of being a complete dumb fuck.

I will leave your posts alone as they have been responded to in countless other threads on this board. Have a lovely evening typing away

And as my last post on this topic......
You have called me an asshole (which I gladly accept), but without us assholes like me, you butt-fuckers would be out of business.

I am in the market for my first Viper. I have wanted one of these cars since they came out, but due to raising a family...I am now in the position to finally get one. Until yesterday afternoon, i was hooked on a 2002 gen II yellow RT/10 that I found with 1500 miles...until I saw a 2003...now I am wavering.

IMHO, and maybe I have this backwards...but do the vettes look like the gen III vipers? the enclosed headlights on the vette did not come out until 05', but the 03' had the "vette look" before the vette actually looked the way that it does...right?

I had the privelage to drive both within minutes apart from each other...and before I get my butt handed to me for having an opinion...I am new to the board so try to be nice to me!

The 03' I drove was the roadster, soft top, and was a blast. The interior was better over the 02'. As for looks, the first 2/3's of the car is all Viper...and the rear of the car could have been better designed...too bland. The side exhaust was sweet, braking was better, gauge placement nice, and the open top I liked better over the gen II RT...a true convertible...it started to sway me from my original plan. The front of the car has a very cool look to it, BUT, it could leave one to try to figure out just exactly what it is...and that is where the gen II does not suffer from.

I am 90% sure I am buying the gen II, always wanted a yellow RT/10...and the one that I found is basically new...pricey...but thats another story. I have tried reading everything I can on the gen III vipers, hoping to find something bad to get it off my mind...but I just can't seem to find it? I will be in a Viper, in some form or fashion in 2 weeks...buy I can say that I had it in me to go gen II...but the gen III does grow on you!
