Prototype PNP AEM kit for SRT10 Viper

Hey everyone,

Here is a picture of the kit I have put together to install an AEM into the SRT10 Viper. The goal was to make it plug and play with minimal permanent modifications to the car. While I might make slight changes to this kit after we do some testing, this is pretty close to what the final product will look like. The kit shown is intended for a turbo car (comes with boost control pre-wired), but there will also be versions for naturally aspirated and supercharged cars. The harness can have additional inputs/outputs added depending on your requirements.

I would like to thank John Hennessey, for we will soon be testing this kit at his facility. I have previously installed the AEM into the SRT10, but that was a custom wiring job. You can read about the results here:

From my research, this kit can be used in the SRT10 truck with some slight modifications. I can also spec it out with a Motec engine management system if the customer desired. The gauges, door locks, and other features will continue to work as they did with the stock ECU.

Feel free to post up or email any questions, thoughts or ideas.

The new generation of AEM systems should be USB, but for now we are stuck with serial. Trust me, I feel the same way.

FAST has a usb-serial adaptor but its marginal at best, might be worth a shot on the AEM.

Very cool. Will the OBD port work with this setup? I'm wondering for us folks that still need to go through inspection etc...

It is not setup to work, and the main reason is that while I could make it communicate with the stock PCM (which is still there running quite a bit of stuff), it will have codes because it is not controlling the ignition and things like that. And the codes makes the car non compliant.

So for now this is setup for "race only", but allows you to modify the car without making any permanent changes. Perhaps there will be options in the future to keep the stock PCM happy and allow full communication. I will look into it....

PS. The USB adapter cost $2.

THanks bro. I need that setup bad and I imagine there are a lot of people that are in the same situation as I. What I would really like is a plug and play Motec with fittings to read into the ABS to make the traction control work too? Can you PM me?
