New Member and Info Request

Hello ViperAlley. As a new member I am ready for hazing that is about to be bestow upon me. I do have questions since I am in the market for a Viper, so after welcoming me can you please answer my questions.

I would like to know if the gossip is true about the Viper being hot and noisy? I know its a hot car just by looking at it but I would like to hear it from the owners who are the best critics. I enjoy the heat more than cold and I do not live in a hot climate.

I am also a bit confuse as to how the corvette Z06 beat the viper in its test runs. I guess it is publicity to sell the Z06. As there been any disappointments after purchasing the Viper? Is the convertible as comfortable as the coupe? Convertible looks great but at 100mphs I know it can get a bit nosiy. I am convince in purchasing the Viper because now car it worth being on a waiting list unless it has proven itself like the Viper. I just need to know the experiences from the experts, cons and pros, that I will have to look forward to too. I am no p****y so I do not plan on driving or complaining like one.

The SRT-10 is a great car to drive. It stands out like no other especially compared to all the vettes you see. My 03 has 42K miles on it and I drive it as a daily driver. You'll be averaging 16 miles per gallon if you plan on driving it often. Other than that the car is pretty bullet proof. The clutch, brake pads and oil filter are pretty inexpensive for what the car is so the consumables are affordable. I've raced a new Z06 and both cars are heads up when it comes to performance. The thrill factor is a lot more though on the viper. People will come up to you and ask you what car that is. You won't get that from a corvette.

Im no owner, but have been in both.

The SRT does get a little warm, but from what I know, it doesnt get as hot as the previous GTS/RT. IMO, the SRTC is a little more roomy than the vert. Noisy? Its no luxury car, so there is road noise, but its not horrible.

BTW, here on the Alley, you can spell out the word P-U-S-S-Y.

the viper is a little hot on your legs and feet. I was not happy with the noisy part that came with it but when you drive the car it is like no other. Ive driven alot of high dollar cars ferrari porsche lambo's Z06 the viper has a feel of its own.

Sounds pretty good so far and thanks for replying. I am in Iraq right now so speliing out p****y might get me to the point where I cannot really do anything about it. choking the chicken is not an option. I own a Nissan 350Z and it is noisy and slow. I think a trade is in order. I thought about the turbo and supercharger, but I think it is a better idea to save the 20gs and buy a car that can handle the power and looks awesome.

The Viper is a great car. In head to head comparisons the ZO6 Vette is slightly faster. It dont matter cause the driver has to know how to extract all that power to be faster. The Viper has a little more cabin heat and a more aggresive exhaust note but its still very quiet. Side by side no one even notices the Vette when its next to the Viper. When you drive a Viper you get that silly Viper smile. I can't haze someone who is in Iraq. Good Luck and stay safe bro.

I've owned several Vettes >> 69, 73, 80 (x2), 93, and an '04. But none of them ever felt as cool as driving the Viper GTS. It's just ... well, different.

From one Rick to the another, it is all good. Sometimes you need a little humor or sarcasim to make you feel like you are still part of the world. The Viper is better looking than the Vette. Actually I think the Vette copies its design. I saw a black Viper on the internet that made me sad damn. I have yet to say that about a Vette. I think some things take getting use to. I am sure the NASCAR machines are hot inside due to all the power, so its expected from a performance car. I would take the looks of a vehicle over a .01, 0 - 60, difference. Just need to find a Viper dealer where I can get my payments down to at least 850 a month.

I will say that the new Z06 is no joke - having been in one that broke off a 475rwhp cobra and the Z06 was stock! The only thing about the vette vs. viper thing is that the vette is very common. I have yet to go anywhere and park and see another viper around unless I'm at a car meet. With a few mods to the viper you won't be looking at the Z06's taillights anyway.

As far as the SRT vs. GTS.... I've had my SRT up to 190 and loved every second of it. I didn't really notice the noise cuz I was enjoying the thrill too much! Oh and that was with the top down! I rented a GTS a few years ago and it was so hot I took it back after 2 hours. I was in LA and it was only 80 degrees but I was uncomfortable. I havent had that experience in the SRT yet but havent gone through a Vegas summer with it yet either. Anyway, good luck with your decision! Welcome to the boards!
