Anyone know where and how much to lower an SRT-10. I would like to lower it 1/2 to 3/4 inch. On the safe side for the stock shocks which I heard have problems if you lower it too much.
I have a spare set of shocks to work with to make things easier. Unlike gen I/II the stock springs do not look easy to cut as one side is ground and the other is closed (I believe Gen I/II were open at th ebottom end).
Funny, I can just picture myself hopping up and down in the Viper. Not!
I installed Eiback springs in the RT/10 and was quite happy but I had heard bad things about shocks bottoming out if you did the same thing with the SRT. I assume the 9 mm drop from the sring caps is within the range of the shocks? If so that may be the best alternative. I just cannot see spending the amount of new shocks and springs (what are they like $4k)
You don't need KWs or Motons just to lower your car. For lowering your car, Intrax make springs to lower the car. You're old springs come off and the new ones go on. The price is about 250 dollars for the set.

Intrash for a Viper. Never thought I would see the day. Cut the stocks before installing that garbage if you can't go the coilover route. Either way, it is a matter of time before you bottom out the stock shocks with either, and then you will buy the KW's or Motons. Been there, done that.
A 1 inch drop won't bottom out the shock posts. Think before you talk. The next cheapest alternative though would be getting KWs for the car. You can get motons or even Ohlins which are the best but you're looking at 2K per corner for the Ohlins. What I would do is get the part number for the KWs from the KW web site and then contact the dealers listed on the KW web site and give them the part number and request a price. There are a lots of non viper vendors who don't charge viper prices that can get the KWs. I would go down the list and price it out from every vendor and then go with the cheapest.
So what's wrong with the spring caps? Any effects on performance? Seems this is the best way to go if he only want to drop the car 1/2 inch. Only $250, and don't have to chop up the factory stuff.
The $250 lowering springs look fine to me. There's no way I would spend $4K to lower a car, especially since I will do more cruising than I ever would racing. I've lowered almost every car I've ever owned - And the cries of "you will ruin your suspension" simply don't turn into truth.
