ticking sound

When my car warms up I'll get a ticking sound that comes and goes. I can here the injectors and its not them, its a different sound like exhaust leak or valve tick. I just can't figure out why it's only making the noise sometimes. I pulled up to a stop light yesterday and heard it while idling then a few seconds later it just stopped. Any ideas?

Pretty common failure mode on an '06 is a cracked exhaust header. That would make a ticking noise when it is cold and then could close up when it expands as it is heated and stop making the noise. Not exactly the symptom you are describing; but, that's all I got for you. link

Figured it out, it's the neutral rattle in the transmission with clutch disengaged
