Without a doubt, go with an 06. Coupe is the way to go.

Well, you have focused your search on what many consider the least desirable Viper years, so the price should be right. 03-05 Vipers were an uninspired design and were a dissapointment from the introduction. 06 coupe was a return to better design, but was immediately overshadowed by the 08 with 600 HP. There is a reason these cars sell for less. GTS models were the best looking Vipers made, and 08-10 models the most powerful and refined. Everything else is a compromise.

I have an 03 vert with 50,000 miles on her. No problems and I push it hard each time im out. Do your homework b4 buying and you should be fine. Alot of cars for sale on this site are worth looking at, as most owners here are straight shooters and you wont get scammed.

i have an 06 convertible. unlike an above poster, i think the 03-10 have the best body style. i like the coupe too.

2 years later the ONLY two problems i have had were the back tires and a bad converter on the exhaust. the converter is covered for 8 years by law, the back tires wear out too quickly. traction controll would make them last longer. would suck alot of the fun out of driving it too.

very solid car. crappy stereo but a very solid car. no common problems other than buying a subscription to ticket clinic.

get a car fax and hire a professional to inspect the car before you buy it.

advise, find one that is totally stock or as close to it as possible. less chance of butchered stereo harness and more chance someone mature owned it and did not beat the tar out of it. too badly anyway. the more crap it has on it the more chance some of it was put on by a rank amateur who did not know what they were doing. like any car.

Hold on a second!! I'm Unruuly and I'm not the thiev'n stealing bastard referred to in the link! Apparently someone with the same user name not long ago was not a reputable person. I came across some stuff while doing some searches that freaked me out not long ago about "Unruuly being called out"? that was before my time here. So just for the record I'm not that guy!!

...Obviously that's what that guy would say. I hope my reputation thus far has proven my point and please keep an eye on my stuff if you're skeptical. I serve Jesus and do what I can to be above board and reproach, however I do have a weakness for punching stupid people. Please forgive my bad choice in user names.

I like the first few srts. Id like to buy a new one or even an acr but I don't have that kind of money. I'm only twenty and I don't need a huge car payment. I'm still payin on my wrx (only to get credit). Ill have about 30k for down payment and then loan the rest. What would be a good price on like an 06 vert with low miles (under like 10k)?

While I've never been a big fan of the Gen 3/4 styling, I did own an '03 for a while. The brakes are MASSIVELY better than the Gen 2. Handling is more crisp, but a little jiggly. The level of fit/finish is better than the early cars. I kept looking at the SRT and the GTS sitting next to each other in the garage, trying to rationalize why it was worth making car payments again, and I couldn't.

If I were to buy an SRT, it would likely be an '06, because the coupe was available, unless there was a smoking deal on an ACR. The 03-06 cars are more tuner-friendly than the 600hp 08-10 models. This is primarily because of the engine management computer.

40 would be low, 50 would be high. 45 would probably be a fair price for an 06 in top shape with low miles. nothing wrong with looking at an 03 to 05, they are exactly the same car and save a little money.

An '06 vert with less than 10K miles should sell for close to $50K if not more..... upper $50's if less than 5K miles. For crying out loud....these are hand assembled, limited production, high horsepower vehicles.......and the maintenance is simple and relatively inexpensive........ Why do Viper owners think they should be cheap to purchase?
