Looking to pick up first Viper- 2006 Coupe, general questions

I'm looking to get into my first Viper and while I love the Gen 2 GTS bodystyle better, I feel that the Gen 3 Coupe is a much better street friendly car with better AC for one and better street manners. So I have some questions. What are some of the things/upgrades/mods to do to a gen 3 to improve the street manners and further make it a more driveable car? I know about the crossover pipe with exhaust to reduce cabin heat but what else is there? Also, how boost friendly are the '06 motors? Id love to pick up a supercharged one if possible. How prone are they to blowing up (assuming it has a safe tune) I dont need to go boost crazy but what's considered low, moderate and high for these motors? And anything else you guys can add would be great!!!

3.55 gears! Huge difference in drivability. It's got cast internals so you will be limited a bit on boost.

Just curious, have you driven a GTS or are you going off the rumors of how they will kill you? In accordance to street manner I don't see much of a difference between the later GTS cars and the Gen 3. Both have ABS and neither have stability control. AC cools just fine as well if working properly.

I'm not saying this to talk you out of a Gen3 as they are great cars as well. But if your heart is in a Gen2 then I just want to make sure you've truly vetted out all they truly are.

I'll let the Gen3 owners speak better towards the performance questions you have but all Vipers can be supercharged successfully as long as the tune is good and you don't go crazy with the boost. Tune is key. As with the poster above, I would look into gears for a Gen 2 or Gen 3. I prefer the 3.73's, especially if you go with larger wheels/tires but the 3.55's are a great option too.

I hear Corvettes have great road manners, and the A/C is frosty cold.

My gen2 drives great and my AC keeps me cool in AZ heat. I could never figure out the bad rap the AC gets in the earlier cars. Both my 98 and my 01 blow ice cold.

I have driven several Gen 2s. And I have a few buddies that have/had Gen 2 Vipers. The same complaints from all of them is the AC, cabin heat, cramped foot area (that could be the same on the Gen 3 I'm not sure) and some others. Any time I've driven a Gen 2 it was nice out so the windows were down and wasn't using the AC so I'm not sure. Im just going on several friends that have them.

Ive never driven a Gen 3 tho so I need to do that first regardless.

Gen3 cars in my opinion drive quite well and have improved brakes over the Gen2 cars.
A friend of mine had a tuned silver 04 Paxton car that put about 650+ to the wheels on the stock internals and never had an issue with it.

It's rare but if you can find a supercharged Gen3 that was built by a reputable shop like DLM or A&C Performance, that would be your best as the car will then have a paper trail so you're not left guessing what was or wasn't done during the build.
