rear suspension defect??

Has anyone heard of any issues, or incidents from a defect in the rear suspension? Preliminary report from collision center says left rear knuckle has a clean break (no pics yet).
Wife and I getting on interstate, my kids where following right behind; no other traffic fortuneately. Definately not getting on it. Driving about 45. Next I know it fealt like I was rear ended, car took a very hard left into the concrete embankment.

Okay, thanks.
No recalls on the 05's that I have found. Not sure if I need to fight Dodge and have them look into this, or just hope insurance doesn't make it an issue and pays for it all. I have secondary coverage anyway. But I will want to replace all four now, with hopefully something better.

That is one thing I will say about dodge and there warranties, they take care of there customers! I was the last gen2 to be covered by a factory warranty for a new engine and tranny

It happens in vipers that are raced with some regularity. SnakeOyl products sells the rear toe link support for the rear upright that prevets the wheel from turning in abruptly in the event the rear toe link mount breaks.

Here is a pic of the piece. It saved my butt once.

Are you saying that it is BS that Dodge is sending someone out to take a look to see if it is a manufacturing defect or a result of accident damage? I don't think that they are obligated to solely take your word for what the car's history is.

I didn't see whether your car is covered under factory warranty. Is the dealership denying warranty work?

Are you the original owner? Was the car ever in an accident or hit a curb that could have damaged that corner? i.e., did the car ever need to have that corner's wheel replaced due to damage?

I would be interested to see a good macro close-up of the fracture face. I have had a failure on a different vehicle where you could tell from the fracture face that it had been cracked for a considerable length of time before it broke completely.

In any event, it sucks to have one's car screwed up like that. I do understand your frustration.

My guess is they're sending in a guy to do a little forensic work...to see if it looks like the broken suspension was a result of the accident rather than the cause.
