Looking for some information, if anyone would be so kind...
I got a Dodge Viper T56 I'm rebuilding, it came out of a Viper race car, and has a stripped 5th and driven gear that were removed. No word on the year of the T56, but it has a 1 piece countershaft, so I'm assuming 2003-2006ish.
Apparently the gears on the 1 piece countershaft and 2 piece countershaft are different. I bought a 5th that goes on a "Camaro, Firebird and Viper", but didn't fit (massive slop).
Does anyone by chance know the part numbers of the gears or could direct me to where I could find/figure out these? I've honestly been searching all week and Vipers are extremely difficult cars to find in depth info on. I've searched every Viper forum, nothing close to what I'm looking for, I joined this one because it seemed to be the most friendly and active one.
Also, are the SRT10 trucks the same trans (internally)? Just curious about that one.
i take apart the cores and do the t56 repairs at sharfs, i ll double check but the gear on the main shaft i think is the same gen 1, 2, 3. the counter shaft gears though the id's are opposite to fit the taper of the shaft, i think we have several 5th and 6th gear sets for one piece. we just had 3 cores come through that had wasted front 4 gears, if the counter shaft is wasted on a core we part them out, the one piece counter shaft is spendy.
D&D Performance, thegearbox.org, and tick shift/performance are all good places for New T56 replacement parts.
I found someone with the gears, a little more than what thegearbox quoted me, but I got them, and quickly. That information is very useful, though. I wouldn't have guessed the mainshaft cluster gear is the same for all years.
