Differences in Gen 3 and Gen 4s

I keep going back and forth between an 06 and 08 looking at pics and the front ends look the same but for some reason I'm thinking they also look different, can someone confirm this for me?
And if I had an 03-06 Im guessing I can throw a Gen 4 hood on it to make it look more like an 08 right?

Lastly other than the change in engines what other changes were made from gen 3 to gen 4

Way better driveline in the 08. Shifts better, better traction out of corners, absolutely superior car.

Ok thanks but the big question was is that body the same other than the hood?

So the guy who posted 1st said they are superior to gen3s? I cant see them being THAT much better. Maybe if you are going to drive it on a road course, but for maybe 5k miles a year around town and occasional freeway runs is spending the extra cash on a gen 4 really worth it

Gen IV: More hp. More tq. Better trans/driveline. Even more positives if you get an ACR.

Negatives - drive by wire, more difficult for forced induction/tuning.

Many on here have had both (including me), gen IV is superior in almost all ways unless you are going forced induction.

Sorry, but I read the title of your thread. I couldn't imagine that someone would only care how a car looked, and not how it drove.

Yea but are you really trying to tell me that a gen 4 is night and day difference better than a gen 3.
Got any links to proof on that? Like track times or lap times

Stock for stock, the Gen-4 is a better car. HOWEVER, the Gen-4 is not as modification friendly as the Gen-3... and there is technically nothing on a Gen-3 that cannot be changed to Gen-4 spec if you so desire.

Now, if you plan to keep the car bone stock, get a Gen-4 and dont look back. However, if you are a "modder"... you should still be looking at Gen-3's.

When you factor in the price difference, a whole new world opens. For example, for the price of a Gen-4, you can buy a nice Gen-3, put in the TR6060 transmission and differential from the Gen-4, AND purchase the VS-X700 Gen-4 conversion package w/Gen-4 hood. Basically, for the same cost, you have a car that is identical from the outside, looks like a Gen-4 [but even better] under the hood, makes 100 horsepower more than the Gen-4, and has an identical drivetrain to the Gen-4 otherwise..... and can still be modified further if you choose. Basically, take all of the good, and leave all of the bad.

There are also another nice advantage to the Gen-3: They have superior cooling systems compared to all other generations, which can be edited by the SCT software to do some very unique things.

For reference, this car is a Gen-3!

If those are important, get a Gen 4 ACR. The SRT engineers have gone to many tracks in the US (and Germany!) and set lap records.

Thats because "the guy" you're referring to knows a thing or two about Vipers and Chevy's... dont forget those.
Yes the Gen 4 is a better car then the 3 unless you're planning to mod it alot, then go with a Gen3.
