'99, I believe, had the interior upgrades. Not aware of truck handles, though.

Not to jack the thread, but do all 96-99 GTS models with the forged internals also have the lumpy cam, or was this just the 96 and 97 GTS? Why was it discontinued?

Well, you DID jack the thread but...

The 708 cam was used through the '99 model year. My understanding is that it was discontinued because of complaints of rough idle. Those that complained were summarily issued Corvettes.

My buddy at Chrysler compared the specs, and the '98 has the lumpiest of the '96-99's.

The forged pistons and 708 cam were used thru 1999. The upgraded interior and better door handles started in 1999. The first ACR was built in 1999. Hence the best year to have is the 1999. I have a 1999.

I almost didn't buy my Viper because of the door handles. I almost didn't buy my second Viper because of those damn door handles too. Just think of how many Vipers Dodge could have sold if it weren't for those damn door handles.

I heard that when you pull the Gen V door handle to exit the car a small hatch will open releasing 7 doves just for dramatic effect.

You can upgrade them to the 1999-2002 door handle. Been done a bunch of times.

The gen V door handles don't perform as well as the ZR1 door handles.
