t56 sequential shifter?

did some looking around and found mastershift to possibly have a solution. it's fri night now and won't be able to talk to someone till monday. anyone running it or know of others out there. don't mind modifying the console, as long as i am not shifting from behind me
would be nice to have a solid interface and not electronic though to still get some feedback. my trans could use a rebuild (questionable synchros in 3rd and reverse) so the new build could be dog ring or helical cut, depending on the operation of the shifter.

ideas?

It looks like they have everything you would need on their website. The manual trans conversion kit, the hardware to convert the T56, and the bump shifter if you want to go that route instead of paddle shifters. You can mount the shifter anywhere you'd like, you will only be limited by the length of the cable/wires.

ya, the prices do not seem to be that bad either. but i did notice the little asterik by the bumpshift saying that is only the price IF you had already purchased the paddle shift. which is $2000+ by itself. if it can be done sequentually with cables, that would be a good way to do it. if it is all electronic, feedback would be lost, and about the only reliable way to do it would be dog ring gears in my opinion.
will be giving them a call on monday to find out the scoop.

reading again on the mastershift site, it appears like the whole set up might be in the mid $3500 range. which puts it right out of my cool shit to have list.
an old neighbor of mine (electronics wiz) and me started on a sequential/paddle shift set up for a 930 turbo transaxle in my old project. he did all the basic programming in like 2 hours. my job was to rig the actuators and relay to him the shift pattern to be able to input the actuator parameters to hit each gear. sold the project before we got that far. might be time to look him up again.

i am not sure you can make the t56 sequential. this kit most likely converts the h pattern shift into a sequential motion. it would be interesting to see the shift times, as this adds an extra step into the process.

Interesting... Since you can "stack” multiple shifts by just pressing the paddle or button, it will be very beneficial at the dragstrip. All you have to do is press on the clutch pedal to shift, and you also eliminate missing a gear.

That was the only benefit I could see from it, but if the T-56 can't handle any fast shifts, then the gadget is nothing but a tasteless piece of ornament.

I see no real benefit as it's still not a "clutchless" sequential.

Oh, and that black 67 Mustang on their site was a feature in Hot Rod last year and they couldn't perform a road test due to the sequential shifter not working properly.

Someone use to make a bolt-on shifter that would turn the H pattern into a vertical sequence. (It was a couple years ago.) The mechanism inside the shifter did all the work, you'd never miss the 2-3 or the 4-5 ever. I'm not sure how you got to reverse though....possibly it was after 6th....But all you did was bump it up or bump it down, you could never shift more than one gear with each pull. So it worked like a regular sequential trans would shift....albeit different.

thats the type of thing i was looking for. keep the clutch so you weren't chirping the tires at every shift on the street, but able to rock it when you needed to.
my hours o searching has turned up nothing though.

I've google searched my ass off since. The company must have went out of business. They made them for the cobra/f-body crowd, etc. I can't find anything anymore on them. I keep running into circa 2004 posts of ZeroShift.
