Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

Mike,

Its not that I cheated....which no one has proven anyway (everyone in florida knows my car as we are at the races all the time...even drove it 250 miles last weekend to a Viper Club event in Daytona) its the fact that my car is alot quicker than any of the mod 2 Vipers in the country. If I or my customers are allowed to race, none of the other folks will show up, as they can't win against our combination. It's very simple to see that fact.

Heck with that event, I'm gonna have a "beat Tom" event, where I pay you $ 1000.00 to beat me in a quarter mile race. The following rules apply:

No strokers

Factory drivetrain and rear suspension.

Single power adder only. A single power adder can be as many non direct port stages of nitrous as you want, as many turbos as you want, as many superchargers as you want.

No combination of the above power adders.

A 50 mile street cruise to insure streetability before the event. Only a tire swap will be allowed once at the track with a 15 minute time limit to come to the staging lanes.

Outrun me and get the CASH right then, along with my handshake and admiration. Loose and pay me $ 250.00 to follow me through the quarter mile.

Any takers??

Tom

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

John,

Come on down....I will buy the sambuca for you! LOL

The bottom line is that everyone wants to be classed where they have an advantage...and I for one disagree with that. Mod 2 is where all the bickering is happening, as thats where most of the enthusiasts think that their cars fit.

My thoughts of the definition of Unlimited and Mod 2 are;

UNLIMITED: Stroker engines with multipule power adders or a combination of more exotic mods. Examples would be..stroker with nitrous, TT with nitrous, Supercharger with Nitrous, and of course one could add in aftermarket drivetrain components like auto transmissions, 4 link rear ends and so forth.

MOD 2: Stock Cubic inch engines with internal modifications (as many newer Vipers are changing over to Forged pistons to accept bolt on power adders), a Supercharger or a Twin Turbo, or a non-direct port nitrous system, regardless of how many stages. Stock transmission and rear suspension.

In a nutshell, as long as you have a stock CI engine and stock drivetrain, you can bolt on as many Superchargers or Turbochargers or nitrous systems as you want. You can only choose one of them though. Thats Mod 2.

How hard is that to regulate? Not very in my opinion.

Those of us with quicker cars are penalized by the slower and most of the time, more expensive Mod 2 Vipers at some of these latest events.

If someone wants to explain how a stock cubic inch heads/TB nitrous car can be considered Unlimited soley based on an outstanding e.t. alone....I for one am all ears. And I want to see comparisions using tuner advertised pricing for mods and the reason why more expensive mods are slower!

Otherwise, let the weak assemble together with slower and more expensive mods and think that they are impressing the mopar community.

Good day.

P.S. John, I will be flying into Houston tonight about 9 pm at IAH and staying most of the day tomorrow. Want some sambuca?

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

Explain why direct port is any different than sending it through the TB's.
Instead of setting up an OHIOOOO VCA drags why don't they post "only the Vipers that we might beat can come", why all the BS rules have the balls to post the names of the Vipers that they know will kick their ass. All the BS posting at org. and it comes to this. The same guys that took their ball home when they were not chose for the team. "If I can't win I won't play" or is it they don't want to pay the $1000.00 to anyone outside of OH slow O.
What is this no Tuners cars, next no Plumbers cars, no Doctors cars until they assure there self of a win.

I agree completely with Tom except for one point: How is direct port nitrous more than one power adder? This to me seems like the same BS that S/C guys were pulling just because they can't compete with the nitrous/propane set up.

Just my .

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

I think Tom is referring to the stroker being one, and nitrous being the second.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with that, it's just how I read it from his post.

I do agree that I don't believe the TT guys should be penalized. Everyone wants to see the big horsepower low ET guys run.

Tom, what do you have against direct port? It's not like it allows you to put a 500 shot on a stock car!

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

I myself would rather have direct port over injecting it upstream of the intake (in tubes, etc.) The intake was designed to flow only air not any fuel/N2O mix.

You could have a problem with equal flow for all cylinders and/or fuel drop-out. With direct port you can tune for these factors.

Yes upstream works, this is just my

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

Mojo - sure, just drive 2500 mile round trip so we can "show up and race".

We want to race, but there is a significant investment of time to do it, not to mention the cost of the road trip. We want to be there and plan to have fun, etc. We just want a little bit of clarification on the rules before committing.

We have already given up on bringing a twin turbo. But we may have another car or 2 that could be competitive in Mod 2.

Anyone know what the ruling is for a Viper with motor work and a throttle body (not direct port) shot of NOS? I see Dr. Roof is cool to run his 850 rw hp DLM SC. The car we would like to bring makes less than 850 rw hp.

Suloff - you out there? Let me know, thanks!

johnny, i agree, my bad, cost is always a factor. so, bring it anyways if you have the room and see what happens. if at least four cars show for the "unlimited" bracket then they will have one and if im not mistaken, paul s said itd be a dime for the purse

Re: VIPER NATIONALS?

Hello all,

Thanks for the invite, I just arrived in IAH (Houston Bush) but have to go on to San Antonio to cover for another one of our Jets that broke down.....would have loved to share some sambuca and good company!

As for the race thing, Ive calmed down a bit since this first started...but I still think its a shame to regulate someone like myself and others who work hard to achieve what we have only because we are faster, much faster, and for alot less investment.

As a die hard racer, I remain ashamed at the fact that the mopar fans will not be seeing the best of what the Viper community has to offer in Ohio this year.

As for direct port....its a great system and outperforms a tb injection system. Most average users do not use the direct port for two main reasons;

1. tuning requires constant removal of the intake manifold as jets and nozzles are underneath the runners.

2. The throttle body acts as a fail safe against engine damage in the event of a solenoid failure. Close throttle body by lifting your foot, stops the flow of nitrous through it, a direct port will allow nitrous to flow into the engine in the event of solenoid failure as there is nothing to stop the flow past the solenoid on this type of system.

Thanks again for the invite..Im sure I will be back through Houston soon.

Tom

This still does not explain why you don't believe that direct port should be allowed in Mod 2.

am i missing something here? noone said the faster vipers cannot race, what was said is that at least four need to commit so as to make a class for them? and, there are other divisions to race in as well. im not as experienced in this racing shit as most so educate me cause it seems like its as easy as show up and race and win some cash

I'll take you up on that Tom......but we will take the $250 off the top and I will just run for the $750 I'm such a nice guy.

SERIOUS question.....Do you guys with the unlimited type cars want a class like the unlimited was at Roof's race or do you want to race in one class with the mod2 cars ? If so...here is my suggestion: Let the unlimited cars send in their entry of $65 ($100 would be better) within the next two weeks
(non-refundable).......get paul to say if he will match the total of the entry fees dollar for dollar up to xxxx amount. What I am saying is there should be at least five cars = $500 .......Ohio matches it with $500 =$1000 .... any more cars and their entry goes into the pot also but Ohio has a limit. WOULD THIS WORK ?? WHO WOULD SHOW ?
